The ocean looks simple from the shore. Building #technology that operates autonomously in it is an entirely different challenge.
At @SagarDefence, our journey began with #GENISYS, our patented technology, conceived and developed in India, laying the foundation for our work in autonomous #maritime systems. Behind it is a much larger technology architecture. The system needs to know where it is, understand its operating environment, navigate, communicate, execute a mission and respond to changing conditions, while reducing the need for continuous human intervention. A #USV is only the visible part. Behind it lie years of engineering across #autonomy, navigation, communications and systems integration, refined through continuous testing in real maritime conditions. Bringing together hardware, software, autonomy and systems #engineering into platforms that can operate in the environment for which they were designed, the #ocean.
Our #journey goes beyond building vessels. #Swavlamban 2026, under the aegis of #NIIO, underscored the Indian Navy’s focus on innovation, indigenisation and the development of indigenous technologies to address evolving operational requirements. The platform brought together defence innovators, start-ups, MSMEs and industry to advance the development of capabilities for India’s maritime future.
#TeamSDE was delighted to showcase Matangi, its indigenous Autonomous Unmanned Marine Surface Vehicle, developed under the Innovations for Defence Excellence @India_iDEX initiative for the #IndianNavy, as the #USV highlighted its autonomous maritime capabilities and its role in advancing indigenous unmanned surface vessel technology for maritime #coastal security.

Slightly long at almost an hour, but they do cover a wide range of topics. Watch at speed 1.5 or even 2 (they both speak quite deliberately so a higher speed is quite easily understandable😆), but do watch the whole thing. Highly recommended
