Marks and Spencer marketing team must be feeling pretty smug right now. All you have to do is cast James Norton. A delicious sight indeed. Plus they are showing items they actually sell in the Xmas advert.

I think this speaks for the whole country.

I keep thinking how much more effective this ad would have been to have had kids showered with tech and toys that bored them but then Gran shows them nostalgic festive basics. They cook together, make paper chains, and learn the true meaning of Christmas.
This John Lewis Christmas advert is a SHOCKER and it’s gone down about as well as a cup of cold sick.🤮
Two entitled, spoilt brats ignore their grandmother at the door, then trash the house and jump all over the furniture while their mother just shrugs and says, “Sorry, I think they need something to do”.
Grandma digs some simple toys out of the attic. The ungrateful kids sulk. When they open their Christmas cards, they shake them looking for money and look disappointed when there isn’t any.
They only cheer up when Grandma leads them into a room she’s spent a fortune turning into a full grotto.
Who on earth thought this was a good idea and signed it off?
No surprise it’s one of the worst-reviewed John Lewis ads ever and that the YouTube comments have been switched off.
Dreadful.

My Grandma had nothing she could hardly pay her rent but sitting down with her and my grandad with a custard tart and a tea watching the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon is my happiest memories. I hate what we have become.
Nope...not for me! 😠
This years John Lewis Christmas ad, in summary.
Nan needs a hug, rude kids barge past her, ignoring her completely.
Kids don't like Nans childhood presents, so Nan goes out shopping to John Lewis to buy things they like to placate them.
Nan eventually gets her hug, when the spoilt grandkids get the presents they want.
Oh, and a rickshaw ride round London for good measure!
An absolutely dreadful story of kids attitudes towards the elderly today, and blatant consumerism - I for one, won't be shopping there this year! 🎁 🎅🎄

I miss when #JohnLewis ads would leave you sobbing into your cornflakes and questioning your life choices 😭

Those charity choices just ruined that whole game.. #celebritytraitors James Blunt 100% would have donated to army veterans - the real people in need. Disappointing

Nothing for British people? The homeless? Cancer charities? Veterans? I could go on…
No. Refugees of course, because that’s what these celebs do, it keeps them popular with studios, who’re all left wing.
Omg Bash gave his money to CHOOSE LOVE - “for queer refugees and displaced people” - and Romesh donated his to the Refugee Council. The Refugee Council received £41,588,000 from taxpayers between 2021-25 and Choose Love’s total income for 2025 was £12,593,084! They do not need the money. So many small, struggling charities could have done with the help and publicity! #celebritytraitors

Only in Britain could a massive station (over 7.5 million passengers a year) be closed for half a year over escalator repairs.
We are NOT a serious country.
📢 City Thameslink will temporarily close from 17 May to late December 2027 while all 10 escalators at the station are replaced.
When it reopens, customers will benefit from modern, more reliable escalators.

You know what I love about Celebrity Traitors? It’s brought back communal viewing. Like the 90s when we’d all watch the same thing and spend the next day talking about it. No streaming, just everyone collectively gossiping about the same programme. Glory Days. #CelebrityTraitors
Replying to @Se_Railway
