I gasped when @siobhni sent me this wee snap whilst they were filming Traitors Ireland earlier this year. This is the tulle trimmed Children of Lir silk cape she wore in last night’s episode. Such a beaut. #TraitorsIRE #Éadach
The best of the best! NWC will miss her hugely but after leading so many brilliant and successful campaigns, @OrlaNWCI has left the organisation in a strong place to build that feminist future 🩷

Excellent points made by Liam Herrick of @_IHREC on international protection, deportation and Traveller accommodation outlining important and impactful work by IHREC - great to hear these issues being debated so carefully and respectfully. Well done, @SaturdayRTE @RTERadio1!

.@_IHREC how the state is treating – and talking about – migrants.
Why are many members of the Traveller community still living in accommodation that is substandard?
And is it time to drop the prayer at Dáil time?

Mari was a wonderful person. Did so much for people. Was always so generous with her time. Just dreadful, unfair news. She will be missed by so many.
It is with profound sadness and deep regret that we share the news of the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, Mari Steed. Mari passed away at home after a short but serious illness and in the warm and loving embrace of her cherished family. See: adoption.ie/mari/

This report details systemic abuse of the worst kind, suffered by thousands of children, over decades. A fair, accessible and inclusive redress scheme, established immediately, is the minimum appropriate response that human dignity – and law – require. search.app/nSidT8AYCnNcJs2e6

I first knew her in 1968. She lived behind Hatch Street. I remember she playing “If I had a hammer” again and again and again. She wrote for Magill brilliantly. She was great fun but, at times, difficult. I remember her particularly from a press conference on the publication of the Ryan report, which revealed appalling sex abuse by many priests in the Dublin. It was covered up deligently by bishops here and by the Vatican. She stood up and delivered a tirade, which caused the bishops present to squirm. She damned their appellation “father” and afterwards ridiculed “his holiness”. I thought then she had shattered the power of the Catholic Church here. She emboldened less courageous religious correspondents, and they took off from Nell. It was quite an extraordinary episode. The most powerful institution crumbling before our eyes. She had a difficult several years, loosing her eyesight and her softness. She was revolutionary more significant than the “Republican revolutionaries”. I was privileged to know her.
