What does an Oxford mathematical biologist specialising in modelling cancer treatments do after completing their PhD? Why, go and do research at medical school, of course. Kit Gallagher, Schmidt Science Fellow at Harvard Medical School, is your man.

September is #OvarianCancer Awareness Month. At the @MoffittNews Nikon Center of Excellence, we’re tackling ovarian cancer by creating 3D tumor “patient avatars” outside of the body. These models preserve the tumor microenvironment, helping us study drug responses and guide more personalized treatments. Special thanks to collaborators @ErinGeorgeMD, @RMWenham, @MoffittGYNONC, @NikonInst.

Why does this heterogeneity occur in adaptive therapy, and is a 'one-size-fits-all' protocol best for patients across this spectrum of responses? Join Kit Gallagher (@SciKit_G) at #AACR25 as he shares a new mathematical biomarker that can be used to predict treatment outcomes from adaptive therapy. Two wheels good. 'Make yourself useful' is one of those English phrases that frustrated parents might bark at their kids. But sometimes it is directed at mathematicians. @SciKit_G is more than up to the task.

With just over 2 weeks until the 12th @imoworkshop I'm excited to share the artwork for the Toxicity focus! As always the brilliant @jillagal drove this grunge influenced innovation with help from @cgatenbee. Can you spot the other influence? @mathonco @MoffittNews #MoffittIMO

This remarkable study essentially validated our earlier finding in ALK+ NSCLC with @RobertVanderVe1 and @CancerConnector that resistance is acquired through a trajectory rather than a switch nature.com/articles/s41467-0….
Published today! We found that cancer cells adapting to drug treatments don't simply switch from a sensitive to resistant state; instead there's a ‘resistance continuum’ of resistant phenotypes with epigenetically reprogrammed states. 🧵⬇️ nature.com/articles/s41586-0… @Gustavo_SFranca

I think this is a really cool study: evolution and heterogeneity predict long-term outcomes in prostate cancer. Worth emphasising that the lab team were blinded to clinical outcomes until a final great reveal: no risk of over-fitting here! Congrats @AndreaSottoriva and team
Does cancer #evolution & intra-tumour heterogeneity predict long-term relapse? We tested the evolutionary paradigm in prostate cancer clinical trials with long follow-up, combining genomics with digital histopathology: nature.com/articles/s43018-0…

Chuffed to see our artwork make the @CellSystemsCP cover! Really fun collab with @SciKit_G, @ara_anderson,@mathoncbro,@jillagal and @markrt_. The strands are model sims (height=tumor size; shading=drug dose; s1=modulation; s2=skipping), arranged as a PARPi-inflicted DNA break.
