£160m for a station that the area is fairly well connected and the business case was to attract business etc to the baltic triangle. Seems to have done well without a station. My favourite part was when the said toxteth residents will use it to get into town. Well given for most
🚆 | Plans for four new railway stations across the Liverpool City Region are moving forward, with proposed developments in Liverpool, St Helens, Halton and Wirral set to improve transport connections for thousands of residents.

In area it would be much quicker to jump a bus than walk down to the station and wait for a train to go one stop. £160m would get a significantly bigger impact on a new station elsewhere on Merseyside. Probably cheaper to extend Central platform to it.

PS: i don't blame you, as a genuine lifelong City fan, for believing the version of this story fed to you by your "friends" at City (your words), but FFS, you're a journalist. You're paid now by the BBC. Do your job.
Hi David, listened to this yesterday. You stated, unequivocally, that Man City haven't briefed or leaked on this story. That is categorically untrue, and has been since 2020, at least. Get in touch and I'll give you details. But don't lie to your licence-paying listeners.

“Kushner told Zelensky that he should pause the strikes because he and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff were dedicating a lot of time, energy, and jet fuel to mediating with Moscow, one of the U.S. officials said. A 30-day pause on refineries would be a way for Ukraine to show gratitude, that U.S. official said.” An almost comical thing to tell a nation fighting for its existence. Lay down your weapons because we are exhausted from taking a private jet. wsj.com/world/ukraine-pauses…

#BreakingNews | The preferred location for the world's largest tidal power scheme has been revealed. A 1.5-mile stretch of the River Mersey has been identified as the preferred zone to develop a barrage between Wirral and Liverpool, which would create thousands of jobs, generate clean energy for over 120 years and protect businesses and homes from flooding caused by rising sea levels. Mayor Steve Rotheram said: “At a time when events around the world can send energy prices soaring, we need to make better use of the resources we have on our own doorstep. We should be generating more of our own energy, strengthening our energy security and creating good jobs here at home.  "And with the potential to protect homes and businesses from rising sea levels too, this could be an investment in our region's future that our children, grandchildren and generations beyond them could still be benefiting from a century from now."
