After a little over a year of work, I'm excited to present one of my dream projects: my own pixel art software. It will be available at Steam on September 1st! You can watch the trailer here! Hope you like #PixydraStudio! =) #pixydra #pixelart youtu.be/ng5u-IkeQeo

Honestly, I don’t see the point of releasing demos before the actual product launch. I would release demos only after the product is available for purchase... or, at the very latest, at the same time. It’s quite disappointing when you finish a demo, then realize you can't buy it.

A truly impressive example of well-applied AI in gamedev. The key is to never use AI as a replacement for your own creativity. Take it from someone who spent YEARS building tools (tools that could be created in less than a week today) YEARS that could have used to just doing art.
AI helps to handcraft my game. People asked to see more of my design process, so here’s me building a secret room for Ladder Knight. AI takes care of the routine work, so I get to spend my time on pure design. I place every tile, build every puzzle and hide every secret myself. Then I play it, change things and try again until it feels right. Ask AI to design the whole level, though, or even a single room, and the result is very bad. All the pieces are there, but it’s just not fun to play. Making it fun is why I make games in the first place. I’m happy that part is still on me.

I believe that if you want to discover THE BEST part of creating a videogame, you have to do it at a low level... where you have 100% control over every low-level logic that occurs within the game. "Vive-coding" won't provide you that experience. So, you're missing the best part.

Look, I'm not gonna knock some kid with a big dream trying to get his bag on Steam using AI. I think we are going to see 1-shots flood for awhile but also go down after a bit. Here is the thing that people don't understand about making games, AI or not. AI can't make good games without experienced game devs. Or without basically getting so lucky its like winning the lottery. There are going to be a huge rush of hopefuls on Steam throwing out $100 a pop and wonder why 5 people or less bought it. Believe it or not $100 is actually a nice chunk of change, people will get burned and then likely not light another $100 on fire. So sure... flooding - like iPhone trying to win that lotto ticket slop flooding from 2008-2014. The numbers are actually not as high as mobile in those days. The cream eventually rises, the scams eventually become not worth it and when people realize that making GOOD games STILL IS HARD WORK even if you are using AI tools will make a lot of people just give up and move on. There is a right way and a wrong way to use these things and it takes experience to know the difference or looooots of failing to figure it out. Also honesty. You are not doing yourself or anyone any favors by being dishonest about your AI use. In the future, using AI or not - Trust and human connection with your fans and your story is how you survive in the modern world as a developer. Break the trust and you are out of business. Im sure you all had a parent or grandparent tell you that nothing in life worth doing is ever easy or simple. - but properly used tools can make your life a little easier. You still need to know what is worth making and how to connect with PEOPLE. Robots are not your customers, humans are.

Look I'm not going to make friends with this take but I just don't accept the premise that more poop on the market matters for games that aren't poop. Just don't make poop and you don't have to worry about this. Same as it ever was

If you now use AI where you previously outsourced, it doesn't make you less "artist". You're taking on more artistic tasks than before. The issue here is that you've hired the same artist that the local bakery hired. And... consumers hate seeing the exact same thing everywhere.😵‍💫

The most addictive part of writing on twitter is trying to end up with exactly zero characters left once you've finished crafting your statements. It's incredibly fun to aim for that zero, even if it means using emojis or cutting out some punctuation. Btw... buy #PixydraStudio!😉

Fellow programmers! Smile! We will likely be the last generation of programmers that code everything by hand in all human history! Let's try to survive so we can be admired while we're still alive! xD

One of the many advantages of programming without AI is that you can keep coding even when your internet goes out. Plus, you can keep training your actual neurons! For free! Give it a try! =)

Making games from scratch is so exciting... there are SO many ways to get it wrong. It’s a hell of an adventure. I’ve been at this for over 30 years, and I’m still learning basics improvements.

Accusing devs of using AI as if it were a 'sin' is disgusting, but when they clearly DIDN'T use it... it's fucking dystopian. AI games may look awful, yeah, but we're all going to die... enjoy fucking life. Thank goodness I released Fight'N Rage before generative AI took off =_=U

Cool to see a new pixel art program released, especially one that's geared toward video game sprites! And it's by the developer of Fight'N Rage. The in-app Playtest feature sounds neat - it lets you attach your sprites to a game character and move it around.

It cracks me up how, when you install Visual Studio, they keep insisting on about Copilot this and Copilot that... If I'm installing an IDE, it's because I want to WRITE the fucking code myself. If I wanted pre-written code, I'd just ask any random, cheap AI out there... 🤬
