You know the funny thing with all the Anakin posting of late is the character they are describing is not Anakin... it's Darth Revan.
Revan was the man of action who rose to the occasion when old institutions failed to answer the call. While he fell to darkness too, this was...

Gene Roddenberry had a rule that drove the writers of Star Trek The Next Generation absolutely crazy: there can't be any interpersonal conflict amongst the crew. The result was a cultural product I consider almost unique: a story about good people trying to do the right thing that isn't boring.
These days, moral ambiguity, twisted anti-heros and an apocalyptic vision of the future practially comes standard in our stories. Dark and complicated is synonymous with "smart," but in fact it's probably ten times harder to write a compelling story about principled, competent and psychologically healthy people. Star Trek TNG dared to imagine a future for humanity where we outgrew our petty squabbles and became our highest selves, where we travel the stars fulfilling our curiosity and genuinely making the universe a better place.
Patrick Stewart's Captain Jean-Luc Picard was the indispensable anchor to this vision. Instead of William Shatner's campy swagger as James T. Kirk, Stewart's Picard made "tea, Earl Grey, hot" iconic. His depth and gravitas as a thespian specializing in Shakespeare sold the moral dilemmas that were so often at the heart of the best TNG episodes.
The dramatic tension in TNG comes from people sharing the same ethical framework as a group facing difficult problems. The buck stops with the Captain. He listens to and respects his crew, but ultimately it is up to him to "make it so."
For TNG to work as a show, Stewart had to take those very internal struggles between a man and his conscience and make it dramatic. He made Captain Picard's very moral seriousness charismatic. He made you believe that...yeah...of course there is a moral arc to the universe and it bends towards justice. Of course it is worth paying the price to stay true to our principles. And of course, the struggle to discern what is right action is actually much more interesting than wallowing in how broken everything and everyone is.
Bon Voyage, mon Capitaine
Right now, dual wielding is the most fun to play. But my current build also includes netrunning and blades.

And then there was the time that Sir Patrick Stewart brought his gravitas to Sesame Street

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 × Cyberpunk 2077
Maiko knew what happened to Evelyn Parker, what Woodman did to her. The evidence is on Woodman's terminal. And Maiko did nothing. Maiko couldn't even be bothered to send Judy a text to tell her where Evelyn was.
Maiko deserves every ounce of pain she gets from V.

Patrick Stewart's Sonnet A Day series helped get me through the pandemic with sanity intact. Thank you for beautifully reading beautiful words, sir. Rest in peace.

What is N7 Day? 🫡
Every November 7, Mass Effect fans celebrate the series. N7 is Shepard's special forces designation.
This year is different. BioWare is gone, the next game is cancelled, and 276K+ of us are asking EA to build it or license it.
Nov 6: a #SaveMassEffect billboard truck circles EA HQ 🚚
Nov 7: we boot up Legendary Edition together lighting up the Steam charts 🎮
Full plan coming soon. #SaveMassEffect
🔁 Repost so every Commander knows what Nov 7 is about.
Thunderbolts #1. Not just because of the brilliant twist, but because it opens a lot of questions about what happens next.

¿Un tanque andante al borde del colapso, un netrunner nómada capaz de freír sinapsis, una ágil mercenaria nacida corpo y criada entre los Maelstrom o… alguien que graba todas las locuras que hacen los demás? 🤔

Jade Empire
- BioWare’s first original IP
- Chinese low-fantasy (Wuxia)
- real-time martial arts combat
- 89 on Metacritic
- underperformed commercially
I still haven’t played this game, but I definitely intend to. I know it has a loyal cult following for a reason.
