You know the funny thing with all the Anakin posting of late is the character they are describing is not Anakin... it's Darth Revan. Revan was the man of action who rose to the occasion when old institutions failed to answer the call. While he fell to darkness too, this was...

Gene Roddenberry had a rule that drove the writers of Star Trek The Next Generation absolutely crazy: there can't be any interpersonal conflict amongst the crew. The result was a cultural product I consider almost unique: a story about good people trying to do the right thing that isn't boring. These days, moral ambiguity, twisted anti-heros and an apocalyptic vision of the future practially comes standard in our stories. Dark and complicated is synonymous with "smart," but in fact it's probably ten times harder to write a compelling story about principled, competent and psychologically healthy people. Star Trek TNG dared to imagine a future for humanity where we outgrew our petty squabbles and became our highest selves, where we travel the stars fulfilling our curiosity and genuinely making the universe a better place. Patrick Stewart's Captain Jean-Luc Picard was the indispensable anchor to this vision. Instead of William Shatner's campy swagger as James T. Kirk, Stewart's Picard made "tea, Earl Grey, hot" iconic. His depth and gravitas as a thespian specializing in Shakespeare sold the moral dilemmas that were so often at the heart of the best TNG episodes. The dramatic tension in TNG comes from people sharing the same ethical framework as a group facing difficult problems. The buck stops with the Captain. He listens to and respects his crew, but ultimately it is up to him to "make it so." For TNG to work as a show, Stewart had to take those very internal struggles between a man and his conscience and make it dramatic. He made Captain Picard's very moral seriousness charismatic. He made you believe that...yeah...of course there is a moral arc to the universe and it bends towards justice. Of course it is worth paying the price to stay true to our principles. And of course, the struggle to discern what is right action is actually much more interesting than wallowing in how broken everything and everyone is. Bon Voyage, mon Capitaine

What is N7 Day? 🫡 Every November 7, Mass Effect fans celebrate the series. N7 is Shepard's special forces designation. This year is different. BioWare is gone, the next game is cancelled, and 276K+ of us are asking EA to build it or license it. Nov 6: a #SaveMassEffect billboard truck circles EA HQ 🚚 Nov 7: we boot up Legendary Edition together lighting up the Steam charts 🎮 Full plan coming soon. #SaveMassEffect 🔁 Repost so every Commander knows what Nov 7 is about.

Jade Empire - BioWare’s first original IP - Chinese low-fantasy (Wuxia) - real-time martial arts combat - 89 on Metacritic - underperformed commercially I still haven’t played this game, but I definitely intend to. I know it has a loyal cult following for a reason.

Matthew Perry loved Xbox so much he played Fallout 3 on his 360 until he developed carpal tunnel. His pure passion even landed him his iconic role as Benny in New Vegas. Remembering a true gamer on October 28. Rest in peace.

Jennifer Hale made a statement on BioWare closure and EA saying EA never understood BioWare and she hopes someone can buy and save the Mass Effect IP, among others🚀 “It’s really hard to think about BioWare being shut down, but it was in the hands of ownership that may not have understood what BioWare fully is. And I’m hopeful that maybe there might be some crazy thing where they decide that, in order to increase their profit margins—which is often their priority—they will release these IPs into the market to sell them, and use that to do what they do, which is increase their profit margins. Maybe someone could grab hold of these IPs and do something with them. Mark Darrah also echoed her sentiment in a statement within the same interview: “EA doesn’t understand BioWare. I’d argue it was an accidental acquisition. EA bought VG Holding—which included BioWare and Pandemic—largely to acquire Pandemic and Knights of the Old Republic, because it wanted an MMO and the Battlefront developers. In doing so, it ended up with BioWare Edmonton, the core old-school RPG studio. EA never really understood what it wanted from BioWare.” Source: @TheExaminedGame #SaveMassEffect

A few seminal Ben Reilly Stories you may not be as familiar with. Blood Brothers, Players & Pawns, Sensational #6 (The Ultimate Responsibility), Spider-Man Unlimited #8 (Behind the Terror). They all encapsulate Ben and who he is so well.
