Bukele is the wildly popular and democratically elected leader of El Salvador. The Economist call him the ‘Dictator’.
Maduro, according to virtually all other countries, stole the 2024 election in Venezuela, but is solemnly described by The Economist as ‘the President’.
I’d genuinely like to know how and why the editorial team at the Economist makes these sorts of calls.
El Salvador’s dictator has put chatbots in schools and created what he calls “the best medical system in the world”. Now he needs another success story economist.com/the-americas/2…

Irony of the “OMG, hot women in video games = you’re a creepy loser,” only to find out those same people are just creepy losers projecting.

No one asked, but I kinda wanna give a crash course on how to engage in better media literacy cause i keep seeing posts like this.
The best thing you can do to improve is simple: meet a story where it's at, ideally without preconceived notions. 🧵

Gaben has done more to protect and embolden gaming then every single indie dev in existence and I will die on that hill.
He's not just a dude pocketing money, he is literally the last guardian of the industry.

A big part of why media literacy is so bad rn is because many people can’t imagine someone writing a character or scene that doesn’t exactly align with their personal beliefs. A woman’s corpse is not featured in the movie because the writer hates women.

Phāma appears to be a bit distressed. Whatever could be the reason? At Halo Fest, December 11-13, 2026, I will be submitting a 2-minute animation to its short film contest! This is by far the most ambitious thing I've worked on to date, and potentially the most beautiful.

The Arbiter was originally supposed to be called the Dervish but they thought that might be alittle too on the nose

Almost nothing about halo had Bible allusions.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Halo has numerous Biblical allusions including the Covenant, Flood (Noah parallel), Ark, Master Chief John-117 (John 1:17/Revelation 1:17), and Gravemind quote "Do not be afraid. I am peace; I am salvation."

You will get readers who call a 15-year-old a pussy for throwing up after being forced to kill someone
And I’m just thinking, when was the last time you got into a fight?

As a result, you get male characters who do make reasonable mistakes or misread certain situations and people get upset because they didn't immediately "lock in" for something most normal guys wouldn't.
