Yup. The cost of a Bitcoin is where it is because it takes time + energy to produce- this is factored into the price. Some portion of the current price represents that cost. Bitcoin: Cost to produce/mine (X) + speculative/utility value (Y) = market price (Z) The cost of a $XRP is where it is because of these same factors- the cost to produce (X) is also factored into the price. The only difference is that in $XRP's case the (X) variable is substantially smaller (one can argue ~0) and so it's current market price (Z) is more directly correlated to the value of (Y). XRP: Cost to produce/mine (X) + speculative/utility premium (Y) = market price (Z) But the equation is the exact same for both, and it doesn't matter that one costs something to produce and one doesn't because the market still attributes value above the cost of production to both.
The argument between pre-mined and mined coins is stupid. The market doesn’t care whether a coin is mined or pre-mined—if there’s demand, people will pay for it. Similarly, the market doesn’t care how much it cost you to mine a Bitcoin. If demand drops, you won’t be able to sell it at a high enough price to cover your costs. If you don’t know what this means, Google it—but never ask Robert. 😆

There's been something peculiar about BBC reporting on Gaza, especially the online coverage. This outstanding and exceptionally important work of investigative journalism from Owen Jones sheds light on the mystery.
NEW from @DropSiteNews: The BBC's Civil War Over Gaza A landmark investigation by @owenjonesjourno into BBC’s Gaza coverage. Interviews with 13 journalists and staffers reveal how senior figures skewed stories for Israel and dismissed internal objections dropsitenews.com/p/bbc-civil…

Where was your rage when Tories spent £Bs on useless PPE, only for them to write it off? Where was your rage when Tories wasted £Bs on failed HS2? Where was rage when Tories gave Rwanda £700m upfront only to not get it back? Where was your rage when Tories wasted £Bs on failed barges whose contracts happened to be Tory peers? Where was your rage when Tories gave £Bs in contracts on asylum hotels, to again their peers? I could go on forever about Tories wasting fucking money but NO now you’re all angry. 14 fucking years and you harp on now… you are all YEARS too late. Our public services are decimated and now someone has to clean up. So please shut up with your faux care you absolute bastards.

2/2 “Today, Starmer excels at one thing: he’s a grubby, cynical, craven politician, utterly subservient to the American empire and its interests in the oil-rich Middle East. But Starmer is right about one thing: he knows the definition of genocide. In 2014, he defined genocide to the International Court of Justice, the highest court in the world, during a war crimes hearing into Serbia’s three-month siege of Vukovar, the Croatian city, in 1991. He would prefer that we forget his words, so let’s remember them. Starmer said, and I quote: “Serbian forces carried out a sustained campaign of shelling, systematic expulsion, denial of food, water, electricity, sanitation, and medical treatment, bombing, burning, brutal killings, and torture, which reduced the city of Vukovar to rubble and destroyed its Croat population.” Starmer defined Serbia’s actions as genocidal because they were a “radically disproportionate attack deliberately intended to devastate the town and its civilian population.” Israel’s crimes in Gaza are immeasurably worse, on a far larger scale, and far more sustained than anything suffered by Vukovar. And unlike the case of Serbia, there can be no doubt about the intent. Israeli leaders have endlessly repeated that the goal is to lay waste to Gaza, to make it uninhabitable, to starve its population. This week, an eminent doctor who has volunteered in Gaza explained how Israel dealt with Palestinian children it failed to kill with its bombs. Dr Nizam Mamode broke down as he told a parliamentary committee that, after refugee shelters were struck, Israel would send in small armed drones to identify and shoot survivors. Children he operated on would tell him how the drone hovered over them as they lay on the ground, and then shot them. He called it a deliberate and persistent targeting of children. UN figures show that 70% of verified violent deaths in Gaza are women and children, with the highest proportion in the age group of 5 to 9 years. Is this not genocide, Sir Keir, as you defined it in 2014? Is this not genocide as the Genocide Convention defines it? And if it is not, Sir Keir, you urgently need to explain why. From their own mouths, Lammy and Starmer have told us who they are. They are genocide deniers. They are enablers of genocide. They are conspirators in genocide, just like those who preceded them in the British government. We may be exhausted by 13 months of lies, disinformation, smears, and gaslighting, but we are not voiceless or powerless. Our leaders seek to exhaust us, to smear us, to bully us into submission, and to silence us because they fear us. Every time we raise our voices, we shame them. We expose them. We remind ourselves and others that this is not normal—that we’re being led by immoral monsters. Solidarity with Gaza.” #Gaza_Genocide‌ #StopArmingIsrael

Israel will be studied for decades as an example of a nation overwhelmed with genocidal mania. An Israeli peace activist shares a video of Palestinian children burning alive after an Israeli missile hits a hospital. Let's see responses from Israelis and hit 'Translate post'.

In years to come, students in university departments around the world will be studying the propaganda embedded in this headline. As someone who regularly lectures in sociology, journalism and media studies, I could teach an entire lesson on the title alone. For example: 1. Treating the 4 Israeli soldiers as more important than the 23 Palestinian children (by leading the story with their deaths and just chucking in the others at the end) implies their lives are of higher value. 2. Infantilizing active duty soldiers as "teenagers" while not emphasizing the age of the schoolkids, despite many of them being demonstrably younger. 3. The classic use of the passive voice: Israelis are "killed" while Palestinians merely "die". 4. Putting scare quotes around "23 die" subtly undermines the credibility of that claim. Maybe no one died, and the Palestinians are just lying? 5. Using the word "attack" for Hezbollah actions, but choosing a more neutral, clinical word like "strike" for Israeli aggression. 6. Allowing Israeli sources to dictate the framing of the story ("Israel names teenage soldiers") etc. 7. Actually naming the Israeli soldiers, but not doing the same for the far greater number of Palestinians, again sends the message to the reader that Palestinian lives don't matter nearly as much, if at all. It's truly incredible how much propaganda has been packed into 16 words. We are swimming in an ocean of propaganda. That's why it is crucial to deconstruct it and critically assess everything you read, see and hear.
