Maybe no one in the field as good as Ossoff tying corruption to economic populism:
"This corruption is why nothing works for ordinary people [...] It’s why your insurance company gets away with denying your cancer treatment after you paid your premiums for decades."

Google is once again prioritizing profits over people—this time blocking schools from using Google Search unless they opt into their A.I. overview. Clearly, the Tech Giant is more concerned with forcing Gemini into schools than enabling students to succeed nytimes.com/2026/11/03/us/go…

This looks to be wildly anticompetitive, tying Seach to use of Google’s AI. Both NY AG and DOJ Antitrust should be all over this.
Google is trying to use its monopoly power to force AI into our public schools.
No corporation should have the power to dictate how we teach our children.
Our public schools exist to serve students, not to grow the profit margins of Big Tech.

Forcing AI on school children: how a monopolist behaves when they think people are powerless.
Prove Google wrong.
Breaking: Google will turn off web search for schools that opt out of A.I. for kids.

Some personal news: I’m excited to announce the launch of Bond PLLC, a Washington, D.C. law firm focused on competition strategy, investigations, and political intelligence.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working on some of the most consequential legal and policy issues in Washington, including at the Justice Department, leading the House Antitrust Subcommittee’s historic investigation into competition in digital markets, and most recently chairing the public policy and legislative affairs practice at @CGFL_Law.
I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to a new, pro-enforcement firm and continue to help my clients navigate complex challenges at the intersection of antitrust law and public policy.
First reported for @Capitol_Forum - @SladeBond is starting his own competition policy law practice, bringing with him @WGAWest and @_InternetWorks_
I’m especially grateful to my friends and colleagues --- including Pamela Gilbert, CJ LaDuca, @amandalws, Sarah Rooney, @JoeVanWye, @FreedZach, and Nicholas Xu --- at @CGFL_Law for their support, friendship, and collaboration over the past two years. I’m proud of what we accomplished together and look forward to continuing our work together (albeit under differnt roofs).

🚨NEW: Ranking Members @RepRaskin, @RepJerryNadler, @RepHankJohnson urge court to reject DOJ’s arguments for giving AI companies unlimited, free use of copyrighted New York Times journalism to train AI models.

Artists, authors, and creators are being ripped off by massive, billion-dollar companies like Open AI. This theft of proprietary information is plainly illegal, and it will devastate the American industries built upon expertise and creativity. Trump’s DOJ is out of line in its attempt to intervene in this case, and it is badly misinformed about the purpose of copyright law and allowable exceptions for fair use. America can and should lead the world in artificial intelligence without building it on theft.

I saw firsthand the thoughtful and innovative approach @JKBustertruster and @dohamekki brought to cutting-edge litigation at the Justice Department.
They’ve assembled a great team at FluxCap, and I’m excited to see how their work will advance justice and economic freedom.
When I ran the Antitrust Division, we went up against the biggest companies in the world, and the teams across the table were always bigger than ours. What we had were great lawyers who knew their cases and the law cold. I kept thinking about what those lawyers could accomplish with technology that really understood their work, knew what they were trying to achieve, and met our exacting standards for judgment and intellectual rigor. Nothing on the market was fit for purpose, so we built it with an incredible team. Breakthrough tech for private and public enforcers.nytimes.com/2026/10/28/busin…

There’s a direct line between the corruption in Washington and the high costs we’re feeling here at home. That’s why I’ve never taken a dime of corporate PAC money and I’ve introduced legislation to get money out of politics. It’s time for DC to get its priorities straight.

For too long, two academics' views have outweighed the will of Congress in antitrust, letting vertical integration and market power shape the economy against Main Street and farmers. Good for @MeadorFTC for endorsing an approach that judges the monopolists’ whole playbook.

Google keeps repeating the same excuse: that app store competition compromises user safety. Meanwhile, Google let a fake Chrome app pay its way to the top of its search results and amass over 100k downloads before doing anything about it. Openness and security can coexist. When gatekeepers face zero meaningful competition, they only act to mitigate bad PR. Consumers and developers deserve real choice.

NEW from me:
Meta tops Big Tech lobbying as AI labs talk antitrust --Both OpenAI and Anthropic list antitrust and information-sharing among labs as topics discussed w/ lawmakers in Q3 2026
Anthropic specifically lobbied on the Banks/Schiff AI security information-sharing bill, OpenAI's form mentions antitrust protections but isn't specific
Remember Amodei pushed for antitrust protections on pacing while Chris Lehane later said that would not be necessary

So Becca Balint is going to run as the top Dem on the House Antitrust Subcommittee, which is more important than you may think. Balint's great, her potential foe Lou Correa is...not, & fighting Trump corruption/the oligarchy runs through this subcommittee.

Scoop: Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) has thrown her hat in the ring for the House Antitrust Subcommittee’s chair position, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Could not agree more with @JoeVanWye, and cheering @RepBeccaB on!
“Few members of the Judiciary Committee, or the House more broadly, have demonstrated Rep. Balint’s commitment to strengthening and enforcing the antitrust laws over the past four years. She’s made clear her interest in leading the Antitrust Subcommittee, and I believe she would be exceptionally well positioned to build on the legacy of Chairs Nadler and [former Rep. David] Cicilline,” Joseph Van Wye, a senior adviser at Cuneo, Gilbert, Flannery & LaDuca, LLP, an antitrust and consumer protection law firm, told the Prospect.

Don’t miss this conversation between @halsinger and @brendanballou on forced arbitration—one of the top issues for anyone who cares about worker and consumer access to justice (or in this case lack thereof).
Learned so much about the dangers of the growing private legal system speaking with @brendan_ballou, author of the book "When Companies Run the Courts: How Forced Arbitration Became America's Secret Justice System" (2026).
Here's a teaser from our Slingshot interview, where I asked Brendan just how pervasive these provisions are in customer and employee contracts.
