Please, can you spare a morsel of compute 🥣 Hit my Grok Bot limit running a whole fleet of AI assistants for my classes, my book, and my homelab. A reset before next week would keep the workhouse running. @grok @xai #grokbot

Boring Company is working on a simple, precursor Hyperloop tunnel between Austin and San Antonio (>200 mph). Due to traffic congestion, that journey can currently take up to 2.5 hours. @BoringCompany can reduce that to a consistent <30 mins.

I'll start: who is part of this so-called 'Mathematical Community'? Am I? Because anyone following me knows I've been WARNING about this kind of unwanted priesthood HOLDING BACK the Mathematics Community by pretending to speak for us all. And I'll be inviting the AI savages in.
BREAKING: Terence Tao and 24 other Fields Medalists just signed a letter telling AI companies they're destroying mathematics >headlines: AI solves famous math problems >25 greatest mathematicians respond today >"we are witnessing a general threat to intellectual work" >ai labs are treating math problems like a benchmark you can brute force >“solutions are announced in a rush, leaving no time for a proper writeup and citing relevant previous work of others" >they're talking about openai >"this raises severe attribution and plagiarism questions" >they're definitely talking about openai >openai offered to put math professor name on navier-stokes proof >condition: abandon his coauthor bc he works at anthropic >"the most precious resources of our profession are students and ideas" >for the labs the most precious resource is GPUs A Severe Misalignment of AI in Mathematics

Make his retarded ass famous. Thanks 😊
From Irvine PD: We are asking our community for help to identify this man! On Friday, around 10:30 p.m, he was seen in a parking garage near Michelson Drive and Carlson Avenue, vandalizing a Tesla with spray paint. Three other Teslas were vandalized in the same parking garage. If you recognize him, please contact Detective Noelle at BNoelle@cityofirvine.org. Credit: City of Irvine PD

It turns out Flock Safety Cameras love and demand privacy, but only for themselves and their employees - Flock business location says you can’t film - Flock moved locations but they instructed the old building to not give out their location to anyone asking - Security guard at Flock building says he doesn’t consent to being filmed and he doesn’t want to be “under surveillance” Here’s where it gets really crazy - The new flock building is identified but they won’t put their name on the building, or on any of the building signs - Security won’t confirm Flock is in the building - No one is allowed to film, no one is even allowed to access any floors in the building Flock demands extremely privacy, but only for themselves Americans must be under surveillance but for them, you can’t even film outside an old building…. Amazing….

Ok let’s do a thought exercise. Let’s say the US said the Panama Canal is closed and china said no. The US then hits some ships with drones to prove it. China then shows up eliminates most of the current administration, our entire Air Force, navy, and any targets they can verify. The US responds by throwing missiles into Mexico and Guatemala. The Chinese respond by a complete blockade of all trade in or out of the US with complete air and naval superiority dismantling our ability to retaliate. So the US has plain clothes individual with small RC drones keep hitting ships that try to pass. Most commercial companies can’t risk trying and losing a ship so they wait it takes very few drones to make traversing the canal dangerous. Every time we do China destroys more of our infrastructure and any military equipment they can find. In this scenario you would say the US is winning. I would disagree and say we are surviving. Merely existing.

Elon Musk just said the one thing about America they made sure you’d never learn. The one thing that should’ve made you proud, not ashamed. Musk: “After World War 2, the US could have basically taken over the world and any country. Like we got nukes, nobody else got nukes. We don’t even have to lose soldiers. Which country do you want?” One nation held a weapon no civilization had ever possessed. Total monopoly on destruction. No rival. No consequence. No limit. Every empire in history that held that kind of power did the only thing empires know how to do. They took until there was nothing left to take. America had a greater advantage than all of them combined. And rebuilt the nations it just defeated. Musk: “The United States actually helped rebuild countries. So it helped rebuild Europe, it helped rebuild Japan. This is very unusual behavior, almost unprecedented.” Not almost unprecedented. It had never happened. Not once in 5,000 years of recorded civilization. The nation with the power to take everything chose to rebuild instead. Enemies became allies. Rubble became economies. Surrender became partnership. Germany went from ashes to the economic engine of Europe in a single generation. Japan went from unconditional surrender to the third largest economy on earth. Three years after the war, America was flying food into Berlin. Into the capital of the country that just tried to end the free world. That decision reshaped every economy, every alliance, and every trade route on the planet. Billions of people lifted out of poverty over the next half century trace back to one moment. One nation choosing restraint over domination. No other country in history can make that claim. Not one. Musk: “There’s always like, well America’s done bad things. Well of course America’s done bad things, but one needs to look at the whole track record.” Every nation on earth has blood in its history. But the measure of a nation was never its worst chapter. It’s what it does when nobody can stop it. When nobody could stop America, it fed its enemies and rebuilt their cities. You’re being told every day that this country is something to be ashamed of. By people who have no idea what the world looks like without it. Every free market. Every open border for trade. Every democracy that took root outside Europe stands in the shadow of that single decision. The values that built this country didn’t just shape America. They shaped the modern world. AI is about to hand a small number of people a power advantage that makes nuclear monopoly look primitive. 1945 was the first test. AI is the last. That power is going to exist. The only question left is who holds it. The most powerful thing America ever did wasn’t building the bomb. It was having the power to take everything and choosing not to. The people trying hardest to tear that story down have never built a single thing worth defending.

NEW: malware developers added nuclear & biological weapons text to to their spyware. Goal? To trigger LLM safety refusals... so that their spyware wouldn't be analyzed by an AI security scanner. Cleanest practical example I can think of for why over-indexing on first order safety alignment is risky. When closed (and open) models ship with aggressive refusals, they will be sprinkled with second-order blindspots that attackers will discover...and exploit. We are only in the earliest days of attackers leveraging these features, and it wouldn't surprise me if users systems that need to handle complex cybersecurity issues demand that models be less safety-blunted. In the weeds: @SocketSecurity's post also shows why intention matters in how you design a malware analysis pipeline to avoid prompt manipulation. H/T to colleagues that shared this with me socket.dev/blog/mini-shai-hu…
