In the #UK 87% of all people living with #HIV are virally suppressed (aka #undetectable), which means their HIV is managed and they can't pass it on to sexual partners (#UequalsU). Globally only 53% are treated to undetectable levels. #HIVTreatmentAccessForAll #LeaveNoOneBehind
14.6 million people living with HIV still do not have access to treatment. Ahead of #wef20, we're calling on leaders in government and the private sector to take action to remove the barriers that stop people from getting the health care they need. #LeaveNoOneBehind

More people living with #HIV have access to treatment than ever before, with 24.5 million people receiving #treatment in mid-2019. Effective HIV treatment helps PLHIV live long, healthy lives and stops the transmission of HIV to their partners. bit.ly/38QA7LK #UequalsU

Undetectable = Untransmittable means a person living with #HIV on treatment with an #undetectable viral load can’t sexually transmit HIV. U=U is transforming the lives of people impact by HIV. Help spread awareness this #WorldAIDSDay. preventionaccess.org/undetec… @PreventionAC

With #NHS services the UK is a world leader in treating people with #HIV. 95% of all diagnosed are #undetectable (meaning they have equal life expectancy and can’t pass the virus on #UequalsU). The US figure is 61%. Our NHS is #NotForSale. H/t @robdelaney.

This is a problem. Why? Because when not on treatment, the virus can be passed on. #Undetectable means, although living with #HIV, a person will have a viral load so low that it can’t be detected. So low that the virus cannot be passed on!
Do you know what #HIV is? Unlike what many might think, HIV is not a disease, but a virus. As of 2018, almost 38 million people worldwide were living with HIV. Unfortunately, only 23.3 million of those people were accessing life-saving treatment.

We need creative strategies to fight #HIV stigma. #UequalsU is an effective and immediate response to this public health emergency. – at Brooklyn, NY
As @UNAIDS reports, #HIV discrimination remains extremely high in far too many countries. Discrimination and stigma negatively affect access to health services, livelihoods, and so many aspects of a person’s life. To #EndAIDS, we need to #EndStigma. bit.ly/373T7FR

DYK? When the #HIV level in a person's blood is so low that it cannot be detected, it means that person has an undetectable viral load. This means that the person CANNOT transmit the virus to others! Undetectable = Untransmittable #UequalsU

"There are so many people out there who still don't know that somebody living w/ HIV who is on successful treatment can’t pass on the virus to their sexual partners. That is a real game-changer when it comes to combating stigma" -@a_gamez_heath midlandszone.co.uk/features/… #UequalsU
