Holiness is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a universal vocation that speaks to each of us where we live. This is the hope-filled message of today’s feast: God sees the good that we do not see, knows stories that we do not know, and reaches hearts to which we have no access.

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.

Official statement from @HolySeePress (my translation from the original Italian): The Holy Father underwent thoracic surgery as planned. To ensure that the surgery was radical, the lower lobe of the right lung was removed using a video-assisted surgical technique. The intraoperative histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma, as suspected based on the preoperative examinations. The Holy Father was in the operating room for approximately three hours, while the surgery itself lasted approximately 90 minutes. The operation was successful, and there were no complications. Following the surgery, the Pope woke up normally and, after a brief period of observation, returned to his room on the 10th floor. The surgical team was led by Professor Stefano Margaritora, assisted by Professor Elisa Meacci, Dr. Maria Teresa Congedo, and Dr. Leonardo Petracca Caravella. The anesthesiology team consisted of Professor Massimo Antonelli, Dr. Giovanni Punzo, and Dr. Giuseppe Bello.

Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

At Lourdes where the mosaics of Marko Rupnik have been covered up, Pope Leo XIV says: “This call to conversion also concerns the Church herself as she makes her earthly journey.  She must have the courage to begin with herself.  In order to heal the deep wounds, infidelities and painful errors that have occurred within her, we must humbly place ourselves under the Lord’s purifying gaze.  Recognizing our own faults is essential to our spiritual growth.  As Saint Augustine wrote, “Do not be content with what you are, if you want to become what you are not yet””

Today, on the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, Pope Leo XIV blessed the pallium and placed it over the shoulders of new metropolitan archbishops at Mass in St. Peter's Basilica. Among the 35 archbishops were four from the United States: Most Rev. Mark S. Rivituso, Archbishop of Mobile; Most Rev. Ronald A. Hicks, Archbishop of New York; Most Rev. James R. Golka, Archbishop of Denver; and Most Rev. James F. Checchio, Archbishop of New Orleans. The pallium, a band of white wool adorned with crosses, is worn over the shoulders and signifies an archbishop's unity with the Holy Father and his responsibility to care for the flock entrusted to him. In his homily, Pope Leo XIV called Sts. Peter and Paul builders of unity and servants of the truth in charity, an example for every shepherd and every Christian. Please keep these archbishops in your prayers. @AbpNewYork @NY_Arch @ArchDenver @archdioceseofno

This is how the triumphant entrance of Pope Leo XIV into Santiago Bernabéu Stadium felt for his meeting with the diocesan communities of Madrid, Getafe, and Alcalá. A few days ago, he recalled with a smile that, although the Pope belongs to everyone, Prevost was a fan of Real Madrid, the home team of this iconic stadium. As part of his visit to Madrid, tonight he is meeting a packed Bernabéu, transformed for one night into a great celebration of the faith as they received him with chants, cheers, songs and a standing ovation. The crowd of 70,000+ roared for the Holy Father.

W obecności 1,2 mln wiernych Papież zaapelował w Madrycie do Hiszpanów o powrót do Jezusa w Eucharystii. Leon XIV mówił, że Chrystus przechodzący ulicami w monstrancji utożsamia się z biednymi, przygnębionymi, samotnymi i opuszczonymi. ➡️ tinyurl.com/2ktjsda4 @EpiskopatNews

On the Solemnity of Corpus Christi and during his first visit to Spain, Pope Leo made history: for the first time ever, the Successor of Peter carried the Eucharist on foot through the streets of Madrid. Although St. John Paul II visited Spain five times and Benedict XVI made three visits, the country had never witnessed a Eucharistic procession like this led by the Pope himself. A historic moment for the Church in Spain and the world. Video: Alvaro de Juana / EWTN News
