Going to make a thread to keep all the commissions I get under so I can pin it
Had some $ left over from the con, figured it was already budgeted for hh stuff, so randomly started commissioning people to do Vox shark themed art to see what people would come up with. @Drewdroopz was the first one to finish and love the result 💜💜💜

I'm not super familiar with a ton of musicians and only know one bassist on YouTube and was immediately like "oh no not Davie" 😂😂😭😭

Man mfkrs wanna conduct full blown anti-AI witch-hunts or complain about AI written fic but when writers say “hey don’t store my fics in the very platform that routinely scans for ai” everybody wanna be weird about it. Yall are making it easy for AI “writers” fr.

OH the reasons you don’t want to have to DM writers before putting them in your Google Drives are twofold, eh?
1) You think they’re going to say no, and it feels weird bc you’ve already decided you’re putting the fic in anyway
2) You have them blocked, and like…EMBARRASSINGGGG
Pls vox ama 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I doubt anyone would care or respect it but I will say it anyway, I don't and have never given my consent for my writing to be reposted on alternative platforms. It makes me uncomfortable and it's just another way for fics to be treated as content that just happens to exist for the sole purpose to be consumed without any regard for who created it or the time and effort they spent on it.
Fanartists- Hey, please don't repost things without my permission, even if I've shared them publicly
Fans- Alright, that makes sense
Fic writers- Please don't repost fics without ask-
Fans- OMGGGGGG you attention seeking crybabies, don't you know where you posted your works?!

I’ve noticed some ppl tend to see fanart as a gift someone shared and fics as something they’re entitled to. They want more fics, more chapters, more high volume content catered towards them
“When are you going to update!”
Is a common occurrence to all fic writers

Ao3 ToS are pretty clear - if a writer asks you to remove their fic from your public drive or hasn't given you explicit permission to share in a public drive, please respect them!
StarFireLiz (Vox's PR Agent) retweeted
those who shame writers for wanting kudos or even an ounce of recognition for their hard work are the same people who claim they can't go a day without ao3. so yes, please remind me who is egotistical in this scenario

You keep arguing that authors consented because they posted their work publicly, but that's not how consent works. They consented to publishing on a specific platform, under specific terms. They did not give every internet user unrestricted permission to redistribute their writin
seeing ppl come on to twitter and get followings for morality preaching at ppl over art and fics. but then seeing the biggest fic archive go down and ppl refusing to use a possible back up just because there was a rumor antis were there is really kind of funny

I’m tempted to just start blocking everyone who’s using this opportunity to shit on authors more.
We already don’t expect your comments. You made it clear that YOU see fic as content to consume, not an aspect of the COMMUNITY of fandom, that thrives on interaction between fans.

Replying to @alittlevillainy
Can I just add that AO3 runs on private servers (essential for protecting free speech) and not on a platform like AWS or Google Cloud like a lot of other kinds of sites that provide resources to diagnose or fix issues or are capable of failsafes bc of their scale. Old school.
I do (for reasons I won't go into) own domain names for some of the fandom's bigger ships and if ppl are interested in just having a few directories with fic links to other places authors are posting, I'd be willing to get a few of those up this weekend
