My official 2020 roadtrip playlist for chasing. Maybe you’ll find it useful, there’s quite a bit in there.

Girua, Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil (07/28/2026). Supercell and tornado of the year.
At some point we just need to get this crash over with. I’m tired of waiting on it

NOAA retired the NAM this week. We ported it to the GPU and it's back, better than ever: WOOF-NAM, open source.
- 12 km CONUS, all NAM physics, 24 h forecast in ~20 min on a single RTX 5090 (32 GB).
- 8 GPUs: 6 h in 92 s. Multi-card is bitwise to single card.
- 4 km CONUS, 24 h in under 9 min on 8 GPUs. 3 km nests anywhere on Earth (Europe, Japan, CONUS): 48 h in ~7 min on one card.
SStarts from the NAM analysis or GFS today, IFS open data in the next release. Beside the operational NAM from the same cycle it's hard to tell them apart (pics).
Today it needs one 32 GB card for the full 12 km CONUS; ~15 GB is the target, coming soon.

Schumer is a joke. Americans are sick of this generation, their beliefs, and how they have governed. It’s time to get rid of these people and actually hold their replacements accountable.
The amount of political grifting on here is crazy. Depending on which echo chamber you’re in you would think your party already has the midterms won
RIP to the NAM. Thank you for convincing me to drive obscene mileage to DDC and Pilger. I will miss my moisture hype-model
El-Sayed: None of this matters. You know what matters? There are families who are preparing to send their kids to schools tomorrow that look like they did 50 years ago. They're worried about what they're going to feed their kids for lunch. They're worried that if one of their kids gets sick, they're not going to be able to pay the bills. Those are the things that matter.
OU football has turned into Oklahoma storm chasing. Overrated, crowded, and everyone leaves early to get food
Nothing will ever beat watching the ‘04 Red Sox come back from an 0-3 deficit against the Yankees for me. The 2016 cubs and ‘02 angels were 2nd and 3rd. But unfortunately as a cardinals fan this comes 4th
I know Brewers fans don’t want the heart palpitations. But this series needs to go to 7, and the Miz needs to close out the final 2 innings to win at home
Higher gas prices and higher housing prices is what the American people crave
I look forward to cheering on a wedge wrecking a row of data centers though
Its hard to imagine where weather/storm chasing will be in 10+ years.
10 years ago, I would have never imagined it would be the way it is now. The way its evolved, with streaming, youtubers, weather apps, AI composite blob maps taking the last bit of skill needed out of the equation etc etc...
The "old folks" wish it would go back to the way it was.
The younger, newer generation will never understand how the changes feel. Its easy for them to say "welp, its just how it is now" since thats all they know.
But...in 10+ years...how else will it change? One day, yall will see what we mean when we reminisce and look back.
Im 50/50 on it all. 50% salty the easy paths to success we have now didn't exist when I was 20 years old, and 50% glad I probably only have 10-15 good years left anyways, so I wont have to worry or deal with the future (de)evolution.
But through it all, there are still moments you can have mostly to yourself such as Onslow, IA 4-14-26. They're becoming rarer, however. Bag em now, cherish em forever.
