Lucy White says Britain has always been White, always Christian and always culturally homogeneous. All three claims are false bigoted bullshit aimed at the gullible and at dumb ignorant racists. Britainโ€™s earliest modern inhabitants came from elsewhere. DNA analysis by the Natural History Museum and UCL suggests Cheddar Man, our oldest near-complete skeleton, had dark skin and blue eyes, and that pale skin arrived in Britain much later. In Roman York, around one in ten people buried in the Yorkshire Museumโ€™s collections were of likely African descent. One emperor, Septimius Severus, was born in Libya and died in York. Henry VIIIโ€™s royal trumpeter, John Blanke, was African, and Henry paid for his wedding clothes. Christianity began in the Middle East and arrived here under Rome, after centuries of pagan belief. Pagan Anglo-Saxons and Vikings followed, and England had to be converted again from 597. One of the earliest identifiable Christians in York, the woman known as the Ivory Bangle Lady, had North African ancestry. Jewish communities lived here from 1070 until their expulsion in 1290, and returned in 1656. Today, the 2021 census found that fewer than half of people in England and Wales describe themselves as Christian. As for cultural homogeneity, Britain is a union of four nations, with several languages still spoken and a history shaped by Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. For centuries after 1066 the English court spoke French. Protestants and Catholics fought over this countryโ€™s soul for generations. Homogeneous is about the last word any historian would choose. Lucy White is the British representative of the Save Europe Act, which campaigns for โ€œremigrationโ€ and to protect what it calls the โ€œethnocultural continuityโ€ of Europe. The European Commission refused to register it as a citizensโ€™ initiative because it would amount to discrimination on grounds of race and ethnic origin. If you can convince enough gullible politically and historically illiterate people that Britain has always been one race, one faith and one culture, then millions of British citizens begin to look like a mistake that needs correcting. The real history is far more interesting, and it belongs to all of us. Britain has always been made by people arriving, mixing and changing what it means to be British. Rewriting that history to serve a political project is pure #propaganda, and it deserves to be called out.
Britain is not โ€˜multiracialโ€™. We have always been White. Britain is not โ€˜multi-faithโ€™. We have always been Christian. Britain is not โ€˜multiculturalโ€™. We have always been culturally homogeneous. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Thanks @AidaGreenbury ! Good to see this research getting some wider traction. Rewetting reduces greenhouse gas emissions from peat degradation and from fires. The only sustainable solution. #tropicalpeat
How to restore peatlands in Indonesia ๐Ÿ‘‡ โ€œThis study has greatly contributed to the new definition of โ€˜best practice peatland management,โ€™ a goal I set 10 years ago,โ€ Greenbury told Mongabay. She said the findings show that reducing peat subsidence and loss and reducing carbon emissions simply by rewetting peat is no longer just a theory. news.mongabay.com/2024/06/waโ€ฆ

Arenโ€™t you the guy who was jailed for beating up a woman, and then downplayed it as a โ€˜teenage indiscretionโ€™? How on earth do you think you can lecture anyone on this? I was right there in the Chamber - you can see me. Fact. I saw Farage put his hands on @CarolineVoaden to shove her out the way. Fact. Caroline shrieked in shock. Fact. No physical altercation is featured in the clip that is circulating - it happened in the seconds before. Fact. Caroline reported this to the Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms at the time. Fact. Caroline then got on with her job because she hasnโ€™t got time for this shit. Fact.
Iโ€™ve tried to find myself in the video because I remember this pretty clearly. I think Iโ€™m one row back just out of shot on the left of the screen. Itโ€™s completely beyond me how and why Caroline has presented herself as the victim here. She was bloody rude and really quite confrontational and she did it for no other reason than Nigel is Nigel and she wanted to give him a piece of her mind. Anything other than it being a bit of a rush and a squeeze because of the occasion is nonsense. From what I remember Caroline was both the instigator and the aggressor.

Tommy Robinson not being sentenced until 16 December, which gives him time to attend his carol service. Surely he's a fight risk...

Robert Jenrick is pathetic. Itโ€™s not that difficult to see, nor say, that these comments about Kemi are racist. What a coward.
โ€˜Is calling Kemi Badenoch a โ€œNigerian scammerโ€ racist, yes or no?โ€™ โ€˜โ€ฆIโ€™m not on your show to talk about what a journalist has tweeted.โ€™ Reform's Robert Jenrick refuses to engage with @Lewis_Goodall's question about Raheem Kassam's comments on the Tory leader.

EXCL: Nigel Farageโ€™s newest billionaire donor was in business with a powerful Iranian religious foundation under the authority of the countryโ€™s supreme leader, raising questions about his past dealings with the hardline republic. Hossein Ghandehari, also called Sasan, was little known in the UK until he pledged to give millions to Reform UK this summer and donated ยฃ50,000 to Farage to cover the cost of two passes for the Davos World Economic Forum. I remember watching you as Social Care Minister, hand-wringing, blame-shifting, with empty platitudes while people begged for action on social care. You kicked that can even further. You were part of a government that discharged patients into care homes during Covid, with the devastating consequence of the 43,000 deaths of pensioners. The care for those sick & infected pensioners wasn't there, so they were sent back to their care homes to infect the other residents. More than 230,000 people in the UK died with Covid, your government oversaw that. The elderly & disabled dying in much higher numbers. Austerity & cuts to disability benefits has been linked to hundreds of thousands of excess deaths, some through suicide, neglect and starvation. Policies brought in by your government. People are judged by how they treat others, politicians & leaders for the policies they implement that will lift up the quality of life for all. How many ruined lives are enough? How will history judge you, @Helen_Whately?
One to watch. Andy Burnham wants to introduce free social care (excluding residential costs). That will be monumentally expensive. Demand will also grow. Who will provide the extra care? Relying on migrant care workers - rather than paying better to attract more British people to work in social care - would be some form of mitigation against that huge cost. Though of course his free care plan is years away. He could just kick the can down the road like he is for every other difficult decision.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT. When I recently posted โ€˜DO NOT pull apart the upcoming 8-page Reform newspaper going out to 15m homes across the country so itโ€™s in individual sheets, before sending them to Reformโ€™s freepost address one at a time. If enough people do this it would cost them a fortune, which is very bad and unfair,โ€™ I was making a satirical point and was absolutely not endorsing actually doing so, as per this example that has appeared under my post. DO NOT. NOT.
