Local authorities in London spend £4m a day on temporary accommodation (TA), and across the country we have over 150,000 children living in TA. It isn’t sustainable. As a member of @TA_APPG I asked govt what is being done to reduce reliance on TA.
Yesterday, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP raised a question at PMQs about the suitability of temporary accommodation and the impact on children's health and mortality.
All children deserve to grow up in a safe and secure home, and temporary accommodation standards should be regulated.
We met with the Minister for Homelessness @Alison_McGovern at the @HomelessAPPG to discuss the National Plan to End Homelessness.
We will continue to work with the Government to action the Strategy's bold targets, such as eliminating the use of B&Bs for families and children.
