I loved this discussion on getting us closer to the promise of tokenization: the fund interest itself exists natively on-chain, and the blockchain serves as the authoritative record of ownership.
In contrast, a lot of what we see today is still essentially a wrapper: the legally meaningful asset, ownership record, custody arrangement, and administration all live off-chain, and a token is placed on top of that structure as a representation of something maintained elsewhere.
There is value in that model, given where we are. But in Fairness By Design II, I wrote about what I think is the more interesting end state: for the blockchain to be the native infrastructure itself. Where a vault as the fund, for example, mean ownership, transfer, custody, redemption, and eventually more of the rules governing the asset are all established and enforced on-chain.
A fund that lives entirely on-chain removes the need to keep converting between on-chain and offchain systems.
@TuongvyLe12 , General Counsel, @veda_labs on the latest episode of Tokenized with @sytaylor and @cuysheffield said:
"Bailee Gifford launched a native fund, like a fund that is native to the blockchain. And that actually solves so many operational and administrative inefficiencies that exist now because you have to convert constantly between different forms and on chain versus off chain."
Every conversion between forms today means reconciliation, settlement lag and extra operational risk that a native structure simply removes.

Of a fund: issued directly onchain, where the blockchain is the legal register of ownership. The token is the holding itself, not a claim on a vehicle that holds it. No wrapper, no SPV, no offchain register to reconcile against.
"The books and records are held natively onchain."

Investment firm @BaillieGifford recently launched the Baillie Gifford Enhanced Yield Fund aka BAGEY: an onchain, regulated tokenized bond fund natively on Ethereum and Solana.

@TFGolden, our Head of Digital Assets, on what tokenisation actually changes: shared infrastructure that delivers better outcomes for clients, and better access in the places they want it.

The Senate Banking Committee released the latest draft of the CLARITY Act last night. The draft has significantly improved since January and reflects years of bipartisan negotiations.
It’s time to get this passed.
This bill safeguards consumers, includes important developer protections, and gives crypto entrepreneurs the regulatory clarity they need to build here in the U.S.
We’re thankful for the hard work of the Senate Banking Committee and their staff.
We urge Senators on both sides to move quickly to advance it out of Committee, to the Senate floor, and ultimately be signed into law by the President.
Chairman @SenatorTimScott, @SenLummis, and @SenThomTillis released market structure text ahead of this week’s markup.
The Senate’s CLARITY Act delivers clear rules of the road, protects investors, combats illicit finance, and keeps innovation in America.
