Starting today, Airbnb donates a portion of revenue from every stay to Airbnb․org to help provide free short-term housing for people displaced by disaster, traveling for medical care, or facing other crises. Guests don’t pay more and hosts don’t earn less. You’re helping simply by traveling. Learn more at airbnb.org/airbnb

"Don’t feel sorry for millennials. They are living it up now" economist.com/finance-and-ec… "The Economist has assembled data on millennials’ incomes for 32 rich countries. In just three of these—Italy, Greece and Japan—are millennials worse off"

Kudos to Aziz for using a more sophisticated methodology than the most of the rent vs own slop. Buying a house is a wonderful thing but do it because you want it, not as your primary financial investment.
The financial advantage of owning over renting is much slimmer than most people think.

In 2024, the median small farm lost roughly ~$2,800. Last year, the typical farm stay host on Airbnb earned ~$8,000. That gap is why we're partnering with American Farmland Trust to offer farmers up to $10,000 to start or expand a farm stay. foxnews.com/travel/farmers-o…

There are lots of explanations for high home prices. But academic papers that cite regulation as the primary driver have been cited 6x more than papers which cite other reasons.

Apartment rent-to-income ratios have fallen to the lowest levels since prior to the pandemic, at least for market-rate apartments (which cater to mid- and upper-income renters). Encouraging sign of renter financial health.

A new RAND study of impact fees finds that a 25% reduction in such fees would increase the number of feasible housing developments by 20%, and pay for itself via increased taxed revenue.

A man-made crisis in DC's "affordable housing" market, in 3 steps: "the system that was put in place also...created enormous incentives for tenants to not pay rent" "What followed was a massive surge in unpaid rents" "rent nonpayment in LIHTC properties in DC is so high that these properties are, on average, operating at a loss"
