The countdown hits zero. Section 203 takes effect, triggering an IP rapture as Lord British ascends. This inaugural article marks the debut of a chronicle auditing the precise lines where legal code, gaming lore, and system agency collide. #VirtuesReturn

BOB BARKER: And what do you do for a living, Marielle? REDCLAW: I'm a supervillain, Bob! BOB BARKER: Well... that's certainly an unusual occupation. Let's see if we can get you a little closer to that showcase. REDCLAW: In fact, this entire building is surrounded by my minions and other forces. BOB BARKER: I see. All the more people to cheer you on to winning this prize. Now let’s- REDCLAW: We will be robbing everyone in the audience, stealing all these wonderful prizes, and catnapping your hostess there to convince her to come work for me. BOB BARKER: Well, I certainly wouldn't want to lose any of our lovely prizes. And I believe our hostess has a contract, so we'll have to discuss that with the appropriate people. REDCLAW: (smiling) I'm sensing resistance, Bob. (She pulls out a plasma pistol, which makes menacing power-up noises.)

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was originally supposed to have a French accent, but this idea was quickly scrapped after The Next Generation creators heard Patrick Stewart's attempt 👨🏻‍🎨🇫🇷

How could you not love this answer?
#RIP Patrick Stewart of Star Trek and X Men ... On 12-4-1997, after getting a @PressClubDC coffee mug, he was asked, "Just from a purely logical point of view, why is it that a Captain whose name is Jean-Luc Picard have a perfect English accent?" Patrick Stewart answer here:

Most couples have a first dance at their wedding. But this American couple decided to do something a little different. Instead of dancing, they had an actual lightsaber duel. I thought it would be a funny little performance, but the sword skills and choreography are ridiculously good. This isn’t a wedding anymore. It’s a Star Wars premiere. I couldn’t stop watching.

I've read Mein Kampf. I've read the Communist Manifesto. I've read La Bas, Beyond Good & Evil, Justine (by the Marquis de Sade), and Mao's Littie Red Book. I don't want ANY of these works to be censored. Yes they are not appropriate for all ages. I think it's fine to put warning labels on them. And for goodness sake keep them out of school libraries! But you don't fight bad ideas by hiding them away. You fight them by exposing them to the light. BUT you must also be sure that other books, which are uplifting and educational, are available. Some books I think are worth reading below.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Gameplay in the Mass Effect series was, and still is, a lot of fun. With Mass Effect Universe, the intention was to give you more freedom in how you approached situations. That's why I make the comparison to Hitman. Think back to the first time you arrive on Noveria in Mass Effect 1. You need a pass to leave Port Hanshan and pursue Benezia. But how you get that pass is largely up to you. You can talk your way through problems, exploit the people and politics around you, find alternative solutions, or simply let your gun do the talking. That philosophy was being pushed much further in Mass Effect Universe. You could play the space super spy - infiltrating, manipulating systems and quietly eliminating enemies. .. Or if you loved traditional Mass Effect combat, you could kick down the front door and go guns blazing. The point wasn't to take away the Mass Effect gameplay you loved. It was to give you more ways to finish missions. Your mission. Your approach. Your choice. #SaveMassEffect
I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe. Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development. • Set 600+ years after the Reaper War • You play as a customizable N7 agent • Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond • Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending • A galaxy divided into three major factions • Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together • Council races forming their own alliance • The Geth emerging as a third superpower • A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary • Geth-built megastructures • Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda • Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference • Hacking and manipulating the environment • See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more • Handcrafted missions like ME1-3 • But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them • Brutal close-range executions • Squadmates who can clash with each other • Romance wasn't being sanitised • Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist. It looked incredible. And now we may never get to play it. Find out more here: youtu.be/ZOWrTNazZxM #SaveMassEffect

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
       But O heart! heart! heart!
         O the bleeding drops of red,
           Where on the deck my Captain lies,
             Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up- for you the flag is flung- for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths- for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
       Here Captain! dear father!
         This arm beneath your head!
           It is some dream that on the deck,
             You’ve fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
       Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
         But I with mournful tread,
           Walk the deck my Captain lies,
             Fallen cold and dead. —Whitman 😢

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
