After the joy and excitement of 4th July 2024, we only ended up with 2 years of a Labour government. This is NOT a Labour government. It'll be back to the Tories in 29. All due to an egotistical narcissist Mayor and a gang of some of the least talented politicians ever to serve😡

No!! This a Tory size scandal. We've seen organised subversion to dislodge an elected Prime Minister and now extortion of public funds for a vanity project without public approval. This is NOT a Labour government. Those orcgestrating it need removing!!

If the remaining Republicans left in elective office thought over the last couple days that Trump was going to course correct to improve their plight before their next reckoning in 2028, the appointment of Stephen Miller as Chief of Staff just dashed those hopes.

I would certainly read into the flood of DOJ resignations we're seeing that at least some of these people know what's coming with Stephen Miller as Chief of Staff and—despite long being fascist-curious themselves—feel that the coming storm is beyond anything even they can stomach

Last night, while you were sleeping or glued to the US election results, Musk spent over six hours deleting his posts and further tightening his algorithm.
Last night, we watched as Musk systematically erased all traces of the bots and trolls he used against you.
These small details don't go unnoticed by some of us.
Perhaps they do for you, since you still consider him a genius who suffers for the poor Russians sent for money to kill Ukrainians.

With all of the sleaze Reform is embroiled in, I’m not sure it’s a good thing for Angus to make his first tweet a lie.
He isn’t an MP or a member of the official opposition. So he isn’t ‘Shadow’ anything.
Just embarrassing.

The thing is, in 2037 who'll be looking back to see if Burnham's 'slimline' 10 year plan has been completed?
I'm fairly certain Burnham won't be around to be held to account.
Long grass.
Short memories.
An empty hook.
Not only is his 10 year plan late to the party, it's a fiction. Political mesmerism. Puff without the huff.
An abiding reason for not doing important stuff until 'later'.
Or never.
Things change.
'Breathing space' that obscures urgency, need, action.
Starmer was overt. He wanted 2 terms to turn things around. Throughout these terms he'd be measured and weighed - fully accountable. Straight up acceptance of responsibility.
His honesty cost him his job.
Ten year plan or two terms?
Passive versus active.
These are not just words. They reveal mindsets that either understand the true nature of political accountability.
Or don't.

Don't care about the arch. It'll either never be built or be torn down once America comes to its senses under a new government. What I care about is that we're 48 hours post-midterms and Trump is already ignoring court orders.
*That's* the big news, here. newrepublic.com/post/217660/…

BREAKING: SWEET KARMA! Democrat Scott Colom, who is about to win the Mississippi Senate seat, only ran after his MAGA opponent stopped him from obtaining a lifetime federal judge position!
This is one of the most glorious backfires in American history...
Back in November of 2022, President Biden nominated Colom to the federal district court in northern Mississippi. He received support from the state's senior senator, Republican Roger Wicker.
But Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, who Colom is now leading by 1,764 in the vote count from Tuesday, refused to support the nomination. In fact, she blocked the Senate from even considering him by withholding her blue slip, an old Senate custom that lets one home-state senator veto a judge.
She defended her indefensible move by insisting that he couldn't be trusted with such power because of past support for transgender rights. In reality, she was just pandering to the racist MAGA base by blocking a Black Democrat.
But if she hadn't blocked him, Colom would be a judge right now. Instead, he's poised to take Hyde-Smith's seat, flipping a seat that a Democrat hasn't been able to win since 1972 in a state that handed Trump 61% of its vote in 2024.
While the race has not yet been called, if Colom maintains this lead, as he seems likely to do, the seat is his.
Please ❤️ and share if you can't wait to see Colom in the Senate!

In December 1960 the most famous writer in the world was checked into the Mayo Clinic under his own doctor's name, officially for his blood pressure, and given up to fifteen rounds of electric shock to the brain, and when he came out he could no longer write a sentence, and six months later he was dead.
Ernest Hemingway was 61. He had the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer, the houses in Cuba and Idaho, and a head that had been battered more times than anyone could count. He had been blown up by a mortar in Italy in 1918, split his skull open in a London car crash in 1944, been thrown from a motorcycle by a shell in France the same year, and walked away from two plane crashes in Africa on consecutive days in 1954, the second leaving fluid leaking from his skull. He drank enormously. By 1960 he was paranoid, convinced the FBI was following him, unable to finish the Paris memoir he had nearly completed.
The Mayo psychiatrist, Howard Rome, treated it as depression and gave him the treatment of the day. Electroconvulsive therapy was the modern answer in 1960, quicker than analysis and tidier than the lobotomy it had replaced. Hemingway went home to Ketchum in January.
He was worse. Asked to write a single line for a presentation volume for the new President Kennedy, he sat at his desk for a week, could not do it, and wept that it just won't come anymore. In April his wife Mary found him in a state that terrified her, and he was flown back to Rochester for another course of shocks.
At the Mayo he told his friend A.E. Hotchner what the treatment had done. His memory was his capital, he said, the thing his whole trade was built on, and they had wiped it and put him out of business. "It was a brilliant cure but we lost the patient."
The clinic discharged him at the end of June as improved. On the morning of 2 July 1961, at home in Ketchum, he took his own life.
The psychiatrist who has studied his head injuries most closely, Andrew Farah, argues that the man in Rome's office was not simply depressed but living in a brain wrecked by a lifetime of concussions and drink, and that electricity was the last thing it needed. The FBI files released in the 1980s showed he really had been watched for years, which is a hard way to learn that a patient's paranoia was partly a report.
None of that got a hearing in 1960. The diagnosis was in the textbook, the treatment was in the textbook, and the patient's complaint that it was taking his mind was in the textbook too, listed as a side effect, expected and temporary.
They treated the most observant man in American letters for being wrong about what he was seeing, and the last thing he saw clearly was what they had done to him.

I can't be the only one who has twigged Burnhams strategy.
Decision making is all on the 'never, never'.

When they say @TheDemocrats don’t have any potential presidents I suggest they watch Senator @ossoff in action. Here he is destroying one of those spineless, risible, unqualified Trump cronies. A massacre. 🔥

I'll be accused of Burnham bashing again but, seriously, he's hoofing every decision into the long grass of 2027.
For a coup supposedly a year in the making, they are woefully unprepared for the actual work.
PS. He seems to be having a lovely old time in the Caribbean. 🌞
