From Carry On Teacher to The Young Ones to Man About The House to Me and My Girl, via Father Dear Father, Dr Bingham, Robin’s Nest and Dick Turpin….Richard O’Sullivan is a true British cultural icon.
Thanks for the laughs, the smiles, and all the warmth.

He was the greatest actor of his generation, making comedy look simple and solid drama even more effortless
He was a rascal and I loved him…

For those like me who are tired of the television advertisement which stole Roger Whittaker I give you the whole thing from the superb Roger himself - yes I have nicked this off YouTube but yes he's magnificent

30 years on from finding out Lindsay Anderson directed this, it still blows my mind more than it should…or maybe not enough?

In my continuing doomed attempt to promote more 1980s Dutch pop music on X, may I present Babe and their 1980 song The Drunken Sailor!
Dutch girl trios were all the rage by the end of the '70s (everyone wanted to be Luv') and Babe was one of many groups firmly in the bubblegum disco genre. In 1980 Gemma van Eck, Rita van Rooij and Margot van de Ven released this disco version of an old sea shanty, because it was always going to sell in the Netherlands.
They continued with a slightly changed lineup all the way to 1985, but I think this one was their all time banger. Do enjoy!
