Apollon Ladies announced the end of their cooperation with both coaches and thanked them for their contributions to the team.
The club paid special tribute to Angelos Tsolakis, highlighting his long-standing and wide-ranging involvement within the Apollon organisation, as well as his contribution as a role model for younger generations.
Official Announcement
Angelos Tsolakis leaves his position as head coach of Apollon Ladies. Assistant coach Antonis Giakoumis also departs.
The club's official statement reads:
"APOLLON Ladies announces the mutual termination of its cooperation with head coach Mr Angelos Tsolakis and assistant coach Mr Antonis Giakoumis and warmly thanks them both for their contributions to the team.
Special recognition is deserved by Mr Angelos Tsolakis, who represents an example of many years of dedicated and diverse service to the wider APOLLON organisation.
His presence and contributions have established him as a respected figure and a shining example for younger generations."
The departures mark the end of the coaching partnership at Apollon Ladies, with the club acknowledging the dedication and service of both individuals.
We caught up with one of the players’ parents, who shared his thoughts on the Cyprus Talent Pathway Showcase and his experience of the event.
Aris secured a dramatic 2–1 comeback victory over Anorthosis, scoring a stoppage-time winner in a thrilling encounter.
Anorthosis took the lead in the 29th minute through a Kalulu own goal. Aris were unlucky not to score earlier, hitting the woodwork twice through Charalambous and Effaghe.
Aris dominated the second half and equalised in the 59th minute when Effaghe fired a powerful shot into the net.
Anorthosis thought they had regained the lead in the 82nd minute through Marios Ilia, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside.
In the 95th minute, Matisyk headed home the winning goal to complete a remarkable comeback
Omonoia 29M secured a crucial 1–0 victory over Nea Salamina in Peristerona, thanks to a 77th-minute winner from substitute Dos Santos.
In a physical match with few clear chances, Omonoia 29M took advantage of home support and defended strongly to claim all three points.
Nea Salamina struggled to create opportunities, managing only a few long-range efforts and offering little attacking threat.
The victory lifted Omonoia 29M to 11 points, providing a much-needed boost, while Nea Salamina remained second from bottom with just 6 points, increasing their relegation concerns.
Omonoia defeated AEL 2–0 at the GSP Stadium, ending a three-match winless run.
Diony opened the scoring with a penalty in the 13th minute, before Montnor doubled the lead with a header from Evandro’s assist in the 33rd minute.
The victory moved Omonoia into third place, level with AEL on 15 points. AEL suffered their second consecutive defeat, with injury problems adding to their concerns.
Tasos Chatzigiovanis has made a generous €12,500 donation to support 12-year-old Dimitris, who has been battling aggressive neuroblastoma since the age of four.
Dimitris had been cancer-free for only a few months before recent tests revealed the disease had returned, forcing him to begin another difficult fight. His mother, who is raising him alone, has been unable to work due to his continuous hospital treatment.
After a fundraising campaign was launched, supporters contributed what they could before Chatzigiovanis stepped in to cover the remaining €12,500, bringing the campaign to a successful end in just three days.
The footballer has supported the charity Child’s Happiness for several years and also personally spoke with Dimitris’ mother.
A powerful reminder that sometimes the biggest victories in football happen far away from the pitch
Members of the criminal organisation, operating through a non-profit association that had been active since 2008 under the guise of charitable work, exploited the public’s compassion and the suffering of families with sick children, particularly those suffering from cancer.
Founding members of the association “Children’s Joy” (Paidiki Chara) are allegedly behind a multimillion-euro fraud scheme. According to police, they exploited the needs of children suffering from serious illnesses and enriched themselves through donations made by members of the public who believed they were providing financial support to these children.
According to police, the donors included well-known artists, athletes and businesspeople. Members of the organisation publicly promoted these individuals’ donations to enhance the association’s credibility and attract even more donors.
According to police sources, the list of people who were allegedly deceived includes, among others, shipping magnate Maria Angelicoussis, singer Nikos Oikonomopoulos, footballer Tasos Chatzigiovanis, tennis player Maria Sakkari, television presenter Mary Synatsaki, and influencer Ioanna Touni.
The prominent shipping magnate donated $30,000, the well-known singer contributed at least €13,000, and the footballer donated €12,450.
The founding members of the association, which had been operating since 2008 under the pretence of charitable activity, exploited public sympathy and the suffering of families with sick children, particularly those battling cancer.
They organised fundraising campaigns on social media, requesting money for medical expenses and treatments. In reality, however, they allegedly pocketed the donations, passing on only a tiny proportion of the funds to the children.
To strengthen their credibility, they approached prominent figures from the entertainment, sports and business worlds, using their public profiles to attract further donations.
It has also emerged that members of the criminal network allegedly had the bank account of a sick child's mother frozen by filing a false fraud complaint, in an attempt to force her to cooperate with them.
The organisation was divided into two subgroups with distinct responsibilities.
The first subgroup, consisting of the ringleader and members of his family, was responsible for setting up the fundraising campaigns.
The second subgroup, which included the ringleader alongside referees and officials from a local football league, allegedly used money embezzled from the non-profit organisation to manipulate the outcomes of sporting matches.
A central role in the case is believed to have been played by the 37-year-old founder of the association and his partner.
The 37-year-old presents himself as a businessman who owns a café in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, and as an official involved in local football in Pieria.
Authorities have made six arrests in connection with the case.
Police documented 92 fundraising campaigns involving 74 intended beneficiaries, of whom 55 have been identified.
In some cases, investigators found that different photographs or personal details of children had been used to conceal the fact that previous fundraising campaigns had already been conducted for the same child.
Authorities also investigated cases in which medical expenses had already been covered by insurance providers or were lower than the amounts claimed in fundraising posts.
In other instances, money supposedly intended for hospitals and other medical institutions allegedly never reached those facilities.
The financial figures relating to the families identified by investigators are particularly revealing.
Parents of 34 children testified that they had received a combined total of approximately €1,111,176, while the corresponding donations deposited into the fundraising accounts amounted to €3,940,692.

Investigations are continuing as police attempt to identify and locate additional families who may have been affected by the alleged fraud. [@SuperSport104]
CYPRUS MENTIONED!!!!
Oh….Wait.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Lisandro Martínez is under formal investigation by regulatory authorities after his bizarre second yellow card and penalty concession against Chelsea triggered high-risk betting flags across international markets.
According to insider reports, European gambling monitoring agencies flagged an anomalous spike in high-stakes wagers placed on a "Martínez Red Card + Penalty Conceded" micro-market, with multiple accounts linked to a shell syndicate registered in Cyprus.
A source close to the investigation allegedly leaked:
🎙️🗣️ "The betting patterns were completely off the charts minutes before the incident. Off the record, there are private messages circulating where Martínez allegedly told an associate: 'If Manchester United aren't ready to win, I might as well make some money off it.' Authorities are now tracing the crypto-wallets tied to those foreign accounts." 🇦🇷🔴💸

THREE DAYS. ONE VISION. SHOWCASE COMPLETE!
And that's a wrap! The third and final day of the Cyprus Talent Pathway Showcase is officially complete.
What started as an idea to create genuine opportunities for talented footballers has now become a reality, and we couldn't be more grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.
Firstly, a huge thank you to all the players and parents who placed their faith and trust in us to deliver three days of quality coaching and a positive footballing experience. Your commitment, enthusiasm and support have meant a great deal to us.
To our coaches, Matt Derbyshire and Michael Pieri thank you for your professionalism, outstanding player management and the high standard of coaching delivered throughout the Showcase. Your experience, dedication and approach to working with the players were invaluable.
We're also extremely grateful to the organisations and businesses who believed in what we were trying to achieve:
🤝 @PASPcyprus – Cyprus Players' Union, for their support and endorsement of the initiative.
🤝 Together Cyprus, our Official Community & Social Impact Partner, for supporting a vision that extends beyond football.
📻 @LGR1033 , our Official Media Partner, for helping raise awareness of the Showcase within the wider community.
🤝 Parmars for their generous support and contribution towards making the event possible.
📊 And a special thank you to StepOut AI, our Official Performance Analysis Partner, for collaborating with us and bringing an additional dimension to the Showcase through player performance analysis and data.
But our work doesn't stop here.
The next stage is just as important. We will now focus on the player analysis, profiles and footage, with the aim of sharing relevant information with interested clubs, scouts and recruitment professionals in Cyprus and beyond.
From the beginning, our ambition was never simply to organise three days of football. It was to create a platform that could potentially open doors for players who might otherwise struggle to access these opportunities.
We've taken the first step, and we're proud of what we've achieved together.
To everyone who played a part in making the inaugural Cyprus Talent Pathway Showcase happen - THANK YOU!
MORE THAN A SHOWCASE. IT'S A PATHWAY.
