remember when the Fire Nation started teaching kids the Air Nomads were actually violent protesters and terrorists who deserved to be shot in the back of the head for impeding law enforcement?

I’m not saying I have better, smarter plans than twenty five years of zombie Thatcherism refusing to die, enforcing ever stronger and nastier propaganda and crackdowns to sustain itself. But I will say that if zombie Thatcherism was any good, it’d have started to improve by now.

Good to see some fresh new ideas in British politics. This cutting benefits thing, which Im sure we’ve not tried before, is sure to solve something.
There is a risk people don't realise how much the ground has shifted among the public on need to get welfare under control. We hear it not just those 'on the right' or language of 'shirking', but those who approach from a position of wanting to help but think we're at a limit

This is why it’s so important to challenge the notion that the government “borrows” from the private sector. It paralyses everything, dresses itself up in “mundane common sense” but its one of the most damaging misunderstanding a politician can have.
“What I find very difficult… is the assumption you have to cut your way to be being fiscally responsible” “There’s not a hope in hell that [Labour] are going to oversee any cuts to public spending” Economics professor Mariana Mazzucato and Conservative MP Julia Lopez debate Chancellor John Healey’s spending plans. #Newsnight

"Growing up, we were taught that the Fire Nation was the greatest civilization in history. And somehow, the War was our way of sharing our greatness with the rest of the world. What an amazing lie that was. The people of the world are terrified by the Fire Nation. They don't see our greatness. They hate us! And we deserve it! We've created an era of fear in the world. And if we don't want the world to destroy itself, we need to replace it with an era of peace and kindness." - Prince Zuko

The world’s private jets release more C02 in two seconds than most people emit in a year, according to a new report by Oxfam. In all, it says, the richest 8 million people on earth do more to destroy the climate than the poorest 3.5 million. theguardian.com/environment/…

The non-working upper class, the rentiers, are far more parasitic on society than the extremely small non-working section of the lower class. It is a major focus of propaganda to convince people that the opposite is the case. Nations aren’t weakened by the small fraction of GDP spent on food stamps, they are weakened by their rentier class. The stronger this class becomes the more it entrenches itself, the more it drains from the real productive economy. Revolutions disrupt this. They clear out large swaths of the non-productive idle rich. They give opportunities to people of great talent who would otherwise be shut out of the system. This is why the United States, France, Russia and now China became vastly more powerful in the years after their revolutions. It is why all of them became nicer places to live with better metrics for health and education. It is why China’s prosperity and power today is completely interlinked with Mao’s policies. Deng’s market reforms were all well and good but Mao did the heavy lifting when he cleared out the landlord class. Landlords are parasites. They contribute nothing to society and are in fact a net drain. This has been recognized by classical economists including Adam Smith and David Ricardo. There is a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth in the west about how China is finally economically powerful enough to choose not to do business with people who insult them. International football clubs worth billions now have to grovel and apologize to China. Good. These are the rewards for power in the international system. If the West is so terrified of China’s power and of its values then why not emulate the policies that made them so powerful in the first place? If our western values of free speech and association are worth defending then why not clear out the idle class of landlords and rentiers who weaken them and our societies every day? If we cannot do that then there is no point in complaining. China will supplant us because their economic system works better. And that’s how it should be.

Holy Shit: WIRED reports an Accenture contractor gave a Claude Code agent admin access to NIPRNet, an unclassified Pentagon network, to write and deploy code. It ran for two months, apparently sending login credentials, passwords and a network map to a third-party site NIST had flagged as high risk. Contractors must report breaches within 72 hours, yet sources say Accenture initially didn't report it at all. A source calls it "100 percent a national security threat."

Just last month, DoorDash couldn’t seem to find the money to pay their deliveristas — until our administration forced them to give back $131M+ in stolen wages and penalties. This week, they’ve managed to find $17 billion to acquire one of their main competitors. Corporate consolidation means higher prices, harsher exploitation, and greater economic inequality for New Yorkers. We’ve stood up to these giants before. That doesn’t stop now.

We've waited patiently for a plan to end neoliberalism. We won't wait anymore. We need rent controls We need a wealth tax We need *serious* cuts to energy bills Instead it's a few pence off gherkins & a payout which the experts say won't touch the sides on energy bills.

The reason Italy and France build infrastructure so cheaply is that 80% of the planning, design and project management is done in house. When I was a consultant, my company was charging more than 3x my salary for my work. Can we please get serious about project delivery as a country?
Breaking News: The chief executive of California’s High-Speed Rail Authority has abruptly resigned after a recent state report that found that the agency had misused nearly $600,000 to pay for the travel of consultants. This is a developing story. nyti.ms/4zoacHi

no, you did not misread that: the State Dept. OIG determined in Sept. 2025 that it would take TWELVE AND A HALF YEARS to review all the allegations of human rights abuses by IDF units that receive US military aid
NEW: A Sept 2025 IG report I obtained via FOIA request sheds light on Biden admin arms transfers to Israel: -a 12.5 year backlog for reviewing alleged human rights violations by IDF units receiving aid -outdated training/guidance -no verification that barred units didn't get aid

BREAKING: Axios now reports that, in the event of a return to war with Iran—beyond targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure and nuclear sites—the U.S. and Israel would once again target the Iranian leadership, including its political leadership. Prominent Iranian figures state that if this occurs, Iran will this time also go after the leadership of regional states allied with the United States. Several US media outlets have already reported that Iran is preparing to eliminate prominent US diplomatic figures, as well as ambassadors in the region, most likely in response to attacks on Iranian political figures.
