The terror which the state cannot inflict directly, it inflicts via proxy groups such as violent criminals. Same as in French and Russian revolutions before. pimlicojournal.co.uk/p/a-ver…

Impossible for this lady to understand that Serbia became a bully because it was first bullied, as she starts dictating to the new govt after only a day.
Will it be possible for Serbia to join the EU if the country won’t follow bloc’s Russia sanctions? “Probably it will not be possible that a country who is not aligning with us on the strategic interest, which is foreign policy and security policy, meaning being together in fighting Russia,” said Marta Kos [@MartaKosEU], European Commissioner for Enlargement, in a special interview with TVP World’s Marcin Zaborowski. Kos added that the EU hasn’t started talking with Serbia’s new government and will see “how we will be able to move on this field.” Watch the full interview: youtu.be/gyQBN7vq5dQ

It is unbelievably offensive of Reuters to link the Student List protests in Serbia to what has been happening lately in northern Europe, no matter how desperate it is to excuse the latter.
From the suburbs of Paris to the squares of Belgrade, thousands have taken to the streets. The demands are various but often overlapping — frustrations with shabby schooling facilities, perceived lack of economic opportunity, cost of living, corruption, housing and a sense of not being listened to. At times those protests triggered violence — with thousands of shops in France alone being damaged or looted in recent weeks — and police firing stun grenades and water cannons. This weekend they also brought real change — student-led protests culminated in the toppling in an election of Serbia’s long-time leader Aleksandar Vucic after nearly two years of demonstrations against perceived corruption and creeping authoritarianism reut.rs/4zjM88q

I'm cautiously in favour of slavery reparations so long as the amounts that the slaving states have to pay Britain are not excessive.

Why is ‘multiple’ displacing ‘many’? They have different meanings dammit.

You often notice that dishonest people on the Left and the Islamo-fascists take genuine egs of great acts of evil or repression (Holocaust, genocide, murderous censorship etc) and appropriate them for their own deceitful victim narratives. I find it utterly disgusting
The nerve of comparing Rooney with Rushdie.

Hate to rain on all the Francophilia today but the C19th France currently in flames was born out of precisely this type of indiscriminate political mob violence. France chose to live by the sword in 1789.

The Left does this to society because a human race capable of unlimited evil is also in need of unlimited regulation (whereas people capable of autonomous good - which it hates - are in need of no regulation at all).

The British state spends highly because it thinks taxation is morally good due to redistribution: ignoring that redistribution to its own employees, advisers, and suppliers has no moral benefit whatsoever.

I knew some refugees. The communists first killed anyone who wore glasses, teachers, and college students because they were feared to be smart. Communism unleashes evil.

A prime example of the state playing arsonist and fireman; and the hose not being equal to the fire.
Really welcome today’s £23m package to improve the experience of rape and serious sexual offence survivors. Better facilities, better support and a new taskforce to tackle delays will make a huge difference in helping survivors feel safe & treated with the dignity they deserve.

Similarities stop at the first point @b_judah. Finland's defence ties with Israel carry scant downside risk security wise. But Greece is an appendage of the Middle East. Greece and Turkey are historic foes trying to manage relations. Now Israel and Turkey are one misstep away from conflict. Athens has to ask, does Israel have a motivation to lure Greece into a conflict with Turkey? How do Greece's deepening ties with Israel impact relations with Arab states that are Greece's neighbors. Finland has 0 of these calculations. I unpack all this in The New Byzantines out w/@HurstPublishers
Greece and Finland deepening security ties with Israel both have something in common: they feel a direct military threat from a neighbour (Turkey/Russia) and have chosen to prioritise access to Israeli technology over further protesting Israeli behaviour. It’s notable that Finland has previously accused Israel of genocide. Should Putin escalate against European NATO I suspect more European countries would make the same calculation.

That the UK govt has a ‘Forced Marriage Unit’ is a perfect example of the state importing problems to give itself more work: the arsonist-and-fireman approach, with the firehose always inadequate to the fire.
UK Home Office data obtained by FOI show 27 children aged five and under were referred to the Forced Marriage Unit between 2021 and 2025, among at least 100 children aged 12 or under (62 of them aged 10 or below).
