According to Le Monde, citing sources, U.S. special envoy Witkoff held a tense meeting in Florida on October 9 with Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office.
Sources claimed that Witkoff spoke to Budanov “like a child,” trying to “teach” him how to make money.
Witkoff proposed a postwar “regional prosperity plan” that included fully restoring Russian oil and gas transit to Europe through Ukrainian territory.
Witkoff argued that Ukraine would earn transit revenues while Europe would benefit from lower energy costs.
Budanov reportedly replied that Ukraine’s model is “not Belarus, but Poland,” then stepped out to call President Zelenskyy, who advised him not to show any reaction.
When the talks resumed, the Ukrainian side was shown a document outlining a U.S.-Russia diesel deal.
An irritated Witkoff reportedly said: “Accept this diesel deal and stop striking Russian oil refineries — you are putting the world at risk!”
Ukrainian participants were described as shocked, viewing the plan as creating dependency on Moscow and noting that the United States appeared to have secured nothing in return from Putin.
A source close to the delegation told Le Monde: “I have never seen the Ukrainians so stunned and alarmed after a meeting.”
Analysts contrasted the episode with the February 28, 2025 Oval Office incident, saying this one involves concrete policy decisions that could affect Ukraine’s ability to defend itself ahead of a potentially harsh winter.

I'd like to remind Trump administration that after Iran war started, Ukraine deployed experts and technology to the Middle East to help Gulf states defend themselves against Iranian drones and protect US bases in the region, while Russia provided targeting information to Iran.

Russia expert Hosaka Sanshiro says Japan is repeatedly failing in its RU policy. JPN makes concessions & expects reciprocation. RU sees this as weakness. He urges a tougher approach, incl. considering supplying weapons to Ukraine & using frozen RU assets. sankei.com/article/20261019-…

Trump only thinks that it's Zelenskyy who refuses to surrender, viewing him as the main obstacle standing between himself and a sweet dealmaking with Putin.
But in reality, it's not Zelenskyy, it's the Ukrainian people who refuse to surrender. If our president decided, for some reason, to go against the people's will and capitulate by accepting Putin's conditions, he wouldn't last 20 seconds in office.
And the notion that the Ukrainian people are "dying for Zelenskyy" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I've never met a single soldier who thinks that way.
They are fighting because foreign invaders would otherwise occupy their homes, kidnap their children, steal their property, and kill them. That's why, Zelenskyy or no Zelenskyy, they would still defend their country.

Well, it’s a quick take, and no doubt data will come in, but it sure looks like based on today’s evidence that a lot of pro-Trump and pro-AfD bot work depends directly on Russian data centers.

It does not matter which season this is for Ovechkin. What matters is that, because this supporter of murderers and the worst criminals will be taking the ice, the entire @NHL will serve as a massive advertisement for Russia's imperialist war, and—as a result of this year's NHL..

Putin launches terrorist attacks against Ukrainian civilians every day, but all Trump envoys seem focused on is how to make money by working with this barbaric tyrant. The indifference to Putin's atrocities in the pursuit of oil deals is deeply disturbing to me, and I'll bet it is to a lot of Americans. What are your thoughts?
Paul A. Koroluk retweeted
As I’ve been writing about Putin for over 20 years, and as I warned Americans about Trump 10 years ago, when you realize that all their decisions are based on making money and clinging to the power needed to make more money, their actions start to make complete sense.
The Trump administration’s talks with Russia about ending the war in Ukraine have expanded to include a multibillion-dollar oil deal that would benefit Middle Eastern business executives with ties to the main U.S. negotiators. nytimes.com/2026/10/03/us/po…

I remember 2007 russian riots in Tallinn... and I know personally a guy who get instructions from abroad. He get sentenced later for terrorism and spent couple of years in prison. I was a witness in his case. I was young and foolish; I went along with him back then, and I was actually arrested myself and spent the night at the station. I didn't take part in the rioting - I just went to watch and wave a flag - so they let me go without pressing charges, though I did go to the police later to give a statement. That was nearly 20 years ago. Over those 20 years, russia hasn't been standing still; it has been refining its system and gradually driving a wedge into European society. What we are seeing now is the result of 20 years of preparation
