BEHOLD Duncan V3.5, heβs a plain blunt engine
Now with correct slidebar, crosshead and eccentrics ;)
The shell, new cylinders and water cap pieces are by Westcliff Works, who I HIGHLY recommend buying this kit from and browsing the rest of their range ;)

Yes. This is a big part of why TNG has broad appeal: the progressivism is tempered by a conservative emphasis on duty, the chain of command, respect for the law etc. A very 80s / early 90s combination.

My hot take is that TNG, not TOS, made Star Trek into a true cultural phenomenon.
Without TNG, it's just a fondly remembered, often prescient, occasionally schlocky 1960s sci-fi series and sequel movies. But TNG reinvented and elevated the show, creating the franchise.

Peter's moved on so obviously he'd never join, but I do think the show should take his philosophies more to heart in terms of The Doctor, their world, and their character.

Itβs a scary night at Disneyland Paris. Itβs not actually raining or storming though. This is all projection and extreme fog effects on Main Street USA. Incredible. And itβs all included with regular park admission.

Went ahead and rewrote a little reply I made a few days ago as I think it heavily applies here as a general message.
This should apply to a lot of things and I think reading this could give a lot of people a decent self-check.

Guys. I'm upset. It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to part with my Stepney model. There's nothing really wrong with it, but I need money right now for my upcoming model railway show trips and it's just sitting under my bed doing nothing.

I always liked this scene in The Next Generation where Picard explains to a Wall Street financier that society has eliminated scarcity, poverty, hunger, and money. The financier is troubled by that, and Picard responds that the point is to enrich your life.
If you watch Frakes and Spiner's podcast (and you must, it's great), it's clear the cast feels the same way. They even had Matalas on recently. He listened to each cast member and addressed issues they had with their characters and they truly consider it to be TNG Season 8 (Frakes has even referred to it as that on the podcast).

Dude who caused the DRAM shortage is now scolding people for hoarding memory inside their own laptops instead of giving it all to him.
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
βa lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of thatβ
