My wife suddenly asked me to start coming home late three nights a week, and she specifically told me not to call before arriving.
One evening, while we were having dinner, she brought it up.
Wife: “Baby, can you start coming home later?”
Me: “What? You’re asking me to spend less time with you?”
Wife: “Not exactly. Just three nights a week.”
Me: “Why?”
She hesitated.
Wife: “And please don’t call before you arrive on those nights.”
I put down my fork.
Me: “Wait. Why can’t I call my own wife before coming home?”
Wife: “I just need some privacy. It’s nothing serious.”
I stared at her.
Me: “Are you hiding something from me?”

Wife: “You’re overthinking. Just trust me.”
But how was I supposed to trust her when she suddenly wanted me away from home?

My brother found out his wife had been sleeping with another man while pregnant, on the same day she gave birth.She had been in labor for almost two days and he was with her throughout. After the delivery, she was exhausted and needed to sleep. Her phone kept ringing because family and friends had been trying to reach her, so he was the one answering her calls.
A man called and my brother answered, thinking it was another person checking on her. The man hung up almost immediately after hearing his voice. He found that strange, especially when the same number called again a few minutes later. He checked their messages to see who the person was. That was how he found conversations showing that his wife had been sleeping with this man for months even during her pregnancy.
His wife was asleep right beside him and their baby was only a few hours old. He had spent almost two days watching her struggle through labor, only to find out she’d been having an affair while carrying their child. He called me from the hospital crying. He didn’t know whether to wake her up and confront her or let her recover first. He was also beginning to question whether the baby was even his.
