I signed up for a meal delivery service when my new job left me barely any time to cook. It cost $68 a month, and everything worked fine until I began working from home and no longer needed the deliveries.
I called customer service to cancel the subscription.
The representative asked why I was leaving.
“I don't need the deliveries anymore. I’m cooking at home now.”
She offered to lower the monthly price to $45.
I said no.
Next, she offered me a free month and suggested putting the service on pause.
I explained that I didn’t want to pause it. I wanted the subscription canceled.
She told me I had to complete the cancellation through the company’s website.
I logged in, followed the steps, and got a message saying the subscription had been canceled successfully...

Scott Hoying and his husband Mark turned their first Halloween as parents into a Heated Rivalry bit.
Scott as Ilya in the Boston jersey. Mark as Shane in the Montreal one. Their daughter Birdie, born in June, as the puck. The photo went up at the end of October. Pink Times and Gayety both ran it this week.
The caption was simple. Our baby’s the puck.
Gay couples with kids still get the question of whether the old references survive the new schedule. This one kept the hockey rivalry and just added the infant in the middle.
Some of us have already watched friends trade the late nights for the early mornings and still find a way to put the child in the costume. The show is just the language they already shared.
Heated Rivalry is moving into theaters this week. The Hoyings already put it on a four-month-old.
If your feed has been full of the single versions of the story, this is the one where the rivals-to-lovers plot includes the baby who has no idea she is the third character.
The jerseys fit. The puck did not have to do anything. The parents just needed the photo that still looked like the show they both watched.

🇺🇸 WASHINGTON’S POWER SHIFT COULD SHAKE THE AI INDUSTRY.
If Democrats take control of both chambers of Congress, Trump’s AI agenda could face a major political challenge.
This goes beyond party politics. It could reshape the rules governing America’s biggest technology companies.
Here’s what’s at stake:
• Trump’s AI policies could face tougher congressional scrutiny.
• Elon Musk’s xAI could face increased oversight.
• OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Microsoft could encounter new regulatory pressures.
• Data centre expansion, energy policy and government AI contracts could become political battlegrounds.
For years, Silicon Valley has operated under a Washington agenda shaped by Republican priorities.
A shift in congressional control could change that environment.
The AI race is no longer just about who has the best models, biggest chips or most computing power. It’s also about who controls the political decisions that determine how far these companies can go.

My wife left for the weekend to visit her parents. Around 10:30 p.m., someone knocked on my door.
It was Rachel, my wife’s best friend.
She was wearing my wife’s perfume.
I noticed it immediately because my wife had given Rachel the same fragrance for her birthday.
Me: “Rachel? Is everything okay?”
Rachel: “Can I come in? I need to talk to you about something.”
I let her in.
She sat on the couch, looking unusually nervous.
Rachel: “I’ve wanted to tell you something for a long time.”
Me: “What is it?”
She looked directly at me.
Rachel: “I’ve had feelings for you for years.”
I didn’t know what to say.
She continued before I could respond.
Rachel: “I know you’re married. I know you’re my best friend’s husband. But I’ve never been able to stop feeling this way.”
I stood up.
Me: “Rachel, this isn’t appropriate. You’re married to my wife’s friendship, not me. Whatever you’re feeling, we need to stop this conversation.”
She smiled sadly.
Rachel: “You really think your wife doesn’t know?”
I turned around.
Me: “Know what?”
Rachel took a deep breath.
Rachel: “She’s known about my feelings for you for years.”
My stomach tightened.

I worked as an inventory supervisor at a furniture company with about 40 employees.
I had been there for almost two years when our new operations manager, Mr. Harris, joined the company.
He was experienced, confident, and very particular about how things were done.
A few weeks after joining, he decided to change our inventory system.
He wanted us to order larger quantities of furniture materials from one supplier because the supplier offered discounts on bulk purchases.
I checked our previous sales records and noticed that some of those materials had been sitting in our warehouse for months because customers rarely ordered them.
I raised the issue during a staff meeting.
Me: “I understand the discount, but ordering that much could leave us with materials we might not sell for a long time.”
Mr. Harris: “That’s why you’re in inventory, not management. Leave the business decisions to people who understand them.”
The room went quiet.
I tried explaining my concerns again, but he interrupted me.
Mr. Harris: “We’re not running this company based on your guesses.”
He approved the order.
Within three weeks, the warehouse was packed with materials we didn’t immediately need.
I kept my concerns to myself and continued doing my job.

They really ran a full in-universe President Snow address during actual election night coverage on both FOX and CNN. Ralph Fiennes in full Capitol mode, glitching into the live numbers and all. Marketing that leans hard into the franchise’s whole “media as control” thing while the real results were still coming in. Bold move this close to release.

I found 11 letters hidden inside my wife’s old wedding dress, and every single one was addressed to her by a man who supposedly died 12 years ago.
The last letter was dated three days earlier.
My name is Daniel. I’m 38, and I’ve been married to my wife, Megan, for seven years. We live in Pennsylvania, and I always believed our marriage was built on honesty.
Megan had one rule in our house: I was never allowed to open the small storage room upstairs.
She said it contained things from her childhood that she wasn’t ready to go through.
I respected that boundary until last Sunday, when a leak from the ceiling forced me to move some boxes.
That’s when I found her wedding dress.
It was packed inside a large plastic container, and beneath it was a brown envelope tied with a red ribbon.
Inside were 11 handwritten letters.
The first began:
“My dearest Megan, I know you were told I died, but you need to understand that everything you heard about that night was a lie.”
I sat on the floor and read the entire letter twice.
The writer’s name was Andrew.
I had heard that name before. Megan once told me her first boyfriend had died in a car accident when she was 22. She said she spent years grieving before finally moving on.
I continued reading.
The letters described secret meetings, arguments, promises, and a child they apparently had discussed raising together.
Then I reached the final letter.
It was short.
“Megan, I’m tired of waiting. You promised me that after seven years, you would tell your husband the truth. If you don’t do it by Friday, I’ll tell him myself.”
Friday was three days away.
I heard the front door open.
Megan was home.
I quickly returned everything to the container, but I kept the final letter in my pocket.
At dinner, I watched her carefully.
She laughed at my jokes, asked about my day, and kissed me before clearing the table.
How could someone act so normal while hiding something like this?
Finally, I placed the letter beside her plate.
“Megan, who’s Andrew?”
Her smile disappeared.
She stared at the handwriting for nearly ten seconds.
Then she asked a question that made my stomach tighten.
“Where did you find this?”
“In the storage room. You told me he died.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“Daniel, please. Whatever you think you know, don’t contact him.”
I leaned forward.
“Contact him? Megan, you just admitted he’s alive.”
She grabbed my hand.
Then she whispered:
“Andrew isn’t the person you need to be afraid of.”
Before I could ask what she meant, somebody knocked on our front door.
Megan looked towards the hallway and began trembling.
“Please,” she whispered. “Whatever happens, don’t let that man inside.”
Then the doorbell rang.
And a voice outside called her by a name I’d never heard before.

A woman came home from work on Friday and found her husband's parents moving into their guest bedroom.
There were suitcases everywhere.
She looked at her husband and asked, "What's going on?"
He casually replied, "They're staying with us for a few months. My parents need somewhere to stay."
She was stunned.
They had never discussed it. Their apartment wasn't particularly large, and she worked from home three days a week.
When she complained, her husband said, "It's my house too. They're my parents."
She reminded him that she also lived there and deserved a say in who moved into their home.
His mother overheard the argument and accused her of trying to separate her son from his family.
Now the husband expects his wife to apologize.

Bank Manager: "You said you wanted to close your late husband's account?"
Woman: "Yes."
Manager: "I'm sorry for your loss. How long ago did he pass away?"
Woman: "Six months."
Manager: "Were you listed as his next of kin?"
Woman: "Yes. We were married for eighteen years."
The manager checked the documents.
Manager: "I see there are several accounts. Have you been informed about the total balance?"
Woman: "No. I just want whatever belongs to me."
Manager: "Your husband had a substantial amount of money here."
Woman: "I know."
Manager: "Did you know he maintained another account under a different name?"
The woman looked up.
Woman: "What?"
Manager: "It's a joint account. We need to establish the identity of the other account holder before processing your request."
Woman: "Who is it?"
Manager: "A woman named Marlene."
The woman's expression changed.
Woman: "I knew it."
Manager: "You knew about her?"
Woman: "I suspected he was having an affair."
The manager paused.
Manager: "How long?"
Woman: "At least seven years. I found messages on his phone, but he denied everything."
Manager: "I'm sorry."
Woman: "I didn't leave because I had nowhere to go. I stayed because I wanted my children to have a stable home."
The manager continued reading.
Manager: "There's something else. Your husband made regular deposits into this joint account for seven years."
Woman: "So he was giving her money while I was struggling to pay our children's school fees?"
Manager: "I can't comment on the purpose of the transfers."
The woman laughed bitterly.
Woman: "Just tell me how much she received."
The manager looked at the screen.
Manager: "Before I do that, I need you to look at this document."
He turned the monitor toward her.
The account had been opened seven years earlier. The woman named Marlene was listed as the beneficiary, but there was also a note attached to the account.
Manager: "Your husband left specific instructions regarding this money."
Woman: "What instructions?"
Manager: "He requested that the account be transferred to Marlene when he died. But the transfer was never completed because we couldn't verify a document he submitted."
The woman leaned forward.
Woman: "What document?"
The manager opened the scanned attachment.
It was a birth certificate.
The woman's eyes widened.
The child listed on it was a boy born seven years earlier.
The mother's name was Marlene.
The father's name was her husband's.
Woman: "He had another child?"
