🔴 FLORIDA: One Flock camera hit. Eight felonies. Thirteen days in jail, including 86 hours in solitary confinement. Life in prison hanging over an innocent 23-year-old. That is not a hypothetical from a sci-fi movie. That is what happened to Lindsey Isaacs. On the night of October 4, 2025, a high-speed hit-and-run on Interstate 4 near DeBary, Florida, killed three people, including Flagler County Deputy Administrator Jorge Salinas and his wife Nancy. Witnesses and 911 callers described a maroon Dodge Durango driving like a “mad person,” and one provided a partial plate that did not match Isaacs. Paint transfer on a struck vehicle was maroon. Florida Highway Patrol investigators instead locked onto a Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) that photographed Isaacs’ black Dodge Durango about three miles west of the crash, two minutes after it happened. Time-and-distance analysis later showed she was already past the scene. They searched only for a black Durango, ignored the maroon description sitting in dispatch records, claimed her undamaged vehicle had “smudges” consistent with a crash (it did not), and never pulled the event data recorder that would have shown no collision. In April 2026 they arrested her on eight felonies, including three counts of vehicular homicide. She spent 13 days in the Volusia County jail—part of it in solitary confinement for 86 hours, on suicide watch, facing the real possibility of dying in prison for a crash she had nothing to do with. Charges were dropped in May after a separate team found the actual suspect, Alisa Montalvo, driving a damaged maroon Durango that matched the original descriptions. Isaacs has since sued the troopers for fabricating evidence and ignoring exculpatory facts. On September 23, 2026, she told a U.S. Senate subcommittee exactly how one camera “hit” became the centerpiece of an investigation that wrecked her life. This is why Flock cameras and the nationwide AI-enhanced ALPR dragnet they enable are a terrible idea if you do not want to live in a dystopian society. These are not traffic cameras catching speeders. They are a persistent, searchable, AI-enhanced network of more than 120,000 cameras across 49 states, scanning tens of billions of vehicles a month. They record where every car goes, when, and often distinctive features. Law enforcement can query it across jurisdictions with almost no warrant requirement. One distant plate read becomes “she was in the area,” which becomes tunnel vision, which becomes an affidavit, which becomes handcuffs and a cell. Confirmation bias does the rest. Other evidence gets ignored because the machine already pointed at someone. It is Minority Report without the psychics: the system generates a lead, investigators treat the lead as truth, and an innocent person pays the price in lost liberty, reputation, mental health, and days of actual confinement that feel like torture. Isaacs described holding her Bible constantly and praying the truth would come out. That is not public safety. That is a police-state dragnet that treats every driver as a potential suspect whose movements can be reconstructed after the fact. The same network has already been abused by officers tracking exes and colleagues. Data retention, even if shortened on paper, still creates a rolling record of ordinary life. Errors compound. Colors get misread at night. Similar vehicles get conflated. And once you are in the system, the burden shifts onto you to prove you were not there. If you value the Fourth Amendment, the presumption of innocence, and the right to drive without a government file being built on you by default, these cameras are incompatible with a free society. They turn “being nearby” into probable cause and “the computer said so” into justification for locking people up. Lindsey Isaacs is not an edge case. She is the predictable result of treating ubiquitous, warrantless location tracking as normal. Ban the dragnet. Demand warrants. People are sick and tired of Rosa DeLauro but they are not even trying, so wtf @ChairmanGruters @ScottPresler? It has been the same thing in all 5 congressional districts for every candidate not named George Logan (CT-5) for at least a decade. In CT-3, Mike France could have beaten Joe Courtney in 2022 and 2024. I volunteered both years to make calls. He had about the same amount of money and NO HELP from the CT GOP. Republicans just DO NOT CARE about winning these 5 Connecticut House seats @HouseGOP
