Committee Members challenged Chief Executive at @neso_energy Fintan Slye, over whether he is the best person to lead the organisation, following questions about its institutional culture and given the potential reforms to the UK’s energy landscape.

Ferry fund fiasco…first @JohnSwinney said it was £10m in 20 days, then £3m in 100 days but businesses from Barra to Berneray to Harris haven’t had a penny yet. Where’s the money, John? @Sygazette ✊

The First Minister is either intentionally misleading people or badly briefed. The grant funding allocated to Acorn carbon capture remains in place. It will now be delivered through financial transactions - loans/equity stakes - to deliver greater value for money for taxpayers.
Replying to @JohnSwinney
The Budget also betrays carbon capture in Scotland, and will cut the Scottish Government's budget by around £650 million next year. Yet again, Scotland has been treated as an afterthought.

What Stephen doesn’t say here. Funding is still on offer. It’s now loans and equity funding meaning that the taxpayer would get a return.

Claims about cuts to acorn funding are wrong. The grant funding allocated to Acorn remains in place. Development funding has already started flowing in line with the project’s needs and that support continues. (1/2)

Scotgov handling of £300 heating oil payments a poor precedent - only 7,028 awards across Scotland. Half of 12,000+ homes in Western Isles on heating oil,& high levels of fuel poverty. Yet only 324 households have had £300 payment (some twice) , another 337 applications rejected.
Over 1.8 million households in Scotland would be eligible for the household energy payment if the SNP passes it on. That money should be used to give Scots breathing space not to plug holes in the Scottish Government budget.

Jackdaw is a welcome, pragmatic decision good for jobs & energy security and signals we are in the North Sea, with the workforce in years to come. The £2 billion transition package is vital. We need the skills & supply chain to build renewables at scale using our own workforce.
Energy Secretary @Miatsf has agreed that the regulator can grant consent for gas to be produced at the licensed Jackdaw field. Gas from Jackdaw is expected to start reaching British homes and businesses as early as the end of this month.

Energy can be the sector that powers economic growth and secures well paid jobs in Scotland. Jackdaw is a key development in Scotland’s reindustrialisation. This is a pragmatic decision that puts industry before ideology. It’s the right decision.

Euan - I say this gently as an SNP member. The public are with Torcuil here. And your constituency was one of the few that voted Labour in May. Perhaps time for local SNP activists to wake up and look to what the rest of us are doing to beat Labour?

Such a tribute, @Jamie4North is a gent and it’s good to see him back on the benches, instilling some Highland common sense in the LibDem ranks.
It’s taken me a while to share this, but I was genuinely touched by @Jamie4North’s kind words. Politics can be challenging, so recognition from someone in another party means a lot. Thank you, Jamie, for your kindness. leftfootforward.org/2026/09/…

Devolution was never meant to stop at Holyrood. The PM is right to offer to work with the Scottish Government to push power out into Scotland’s regions. That must include the Highlands and Islands where we have felt the impact of SNP centralisation over the last two decades.

Mark was the first person to contact me after the election and it has been a privilege to work with the Mark Sommerville Foundation on the need to improve investment in MND research. This afternoon, the Prime Minister @andyburnham met with Mark to hear from him directly.

Power goes further when it's distributed not hoarded. A genuine offer from the @andyburnham to rewire Scotland. I hope @theSNP will seize the offer to grow Scotland today.

Following yesterday’s debate in Parliament, I’ve written in @TheScotsman on why it’s time for the SNP to modernise their stance on nuclear energy. Their ban is not in Scotland’s interests. We stand ready to work with Scottish Govt to bring new jobs and investment to Scotland.
