The use of Motion Matching in a 100-player battle royale is technically impressive from a dev perspective, and it makes a great demo for UE5+ and Epic's UEFN goals.
But it's bad for core Fortnite gameplay-wise and aesthetically.
There's a reason no other multiplayer shooter uses it.
Hey, could you please add a slider for back-blings so I can make my back-bling not float 1 meter away from my skin and actually rest on my back. It would be very appreciated.
Thank you.

To clarify and answer a lot of repeating questions I’ve seen about the movement
1- when ppl say OG movement/Og animations etc. they are talking about the animations (locomotion system) not about movement mechanics like sprinting, mantling, moving while healing etc. They can bring back the animations and keep all the mechanics.
2-No, it can’t be a toggle to select which animations you want to see, the locomotion systems are completely different and everyone needs to see the same animations replicated to prevent desync and poor hit registration. It’s not purely a visual/cosmetic thing,
3-Yes we can have a hybrid system where we have OG animations(state machines) for base animations like running, sprinting, jump, strafing, crouching. And have motion matching for wall climbing, mantling etc. we had this in chapter 5 where jumping and tactical sprint still used state machines(OG anims)
4-Yes motion matching(ch5 anims) reduces performance - it is more cpu intensive as the cpu has to constantly query a database of poses to calculate the next pose of your character.
Here is a thread of Fortnite movement "issues" I've noticed (updating as I find more).
Some are fixable, while others are just inherent to motion matching. I really hope Epic brings back the OG animations (state machines) in Chapter 8.

1. when changing directions, the character fully leans like is lost balance and the legs start scrambling.

I can't really classify this as a bug but FYI this is the current animation for dual-wielded guns.

7. Walking into a corner while swapping weapons causes the player model to distort
Thanks @BlazifyWRLD for the clip

Watching my character move as I play is hilarious. He looks like he is struggling to walk and keep balance
It doesn’t feel smooth, natural, or responsive anymore it feels like I’m controlling a character who’s fighting against the game just to WALK. The old movement had weight and flow. This new animation system looks awkward, stiff, and completely disconnected

I’m trying to gather all the issues from the current movement .If you noticed anything with the movement while playing . Pls comment it below . I intend to make a thread in the next 3 days
Found another one. idk why they gave all characters a generic wobbly run.
@Fortnite @JustTeddii @EpicTofuChris @TimSweeneyEpic pls fix
