Out at last in @BloodJournal!! doi.org/10.1182/blood.202402…
So very proud of @nsarellano9 and team! Nicole conceived of this project as a 19 year old undergrad in my brand new lab, and 6 years of (literal) blood, sweat and tears later, here she is in all her glory!
How it started (undergrad who thinks grant writing is fun🤓) vs how it’s going (A PAPER IN BLOOD🩸!) excited to share the FULL ATF6 story with the world! Thank you to my amazing co-authors and mentor @TheElfLab for helping my six year long dream come true! ashpublications.org/blood/ar…

Minisymposium on adoptive cell therapies: Paulina Walczak from @KunleOdunsiMD Lab shares how the overexpression of Serpin B9 in anti-tumor T cells restrains granzyme B mediated auto-destruction & improves the therapeutic effect of adoptive cell therapy in ovarian cancer. #AACR25
Congrats to Dr. Emma Wilkinson who defended her thesis "Elucidating the Role of ALKBH1 in Arsenic-Induced Skin Tumorigenesis" today. Congratulations Emma, thank you for all you have done for CCB, and best of luck at Dana-Farber!

Here's what's what at the University of Chicago this morning. A society that loses science, loses the future.
Congrats to Dr. Brandon Faubert, a hem/onc professor with @UChicagoCCB, for receiving the 2024 V Scholar Award. The grant is funded by Hockey Fights Cancer, via a donation from AstraZeneca. nhl.com/news/university-of-c….

So excited to finally see my PhD work from the #GajewskiLab published in @jitcancer !
This work supports a notion that our lab has been increasingly interested in: can loss-of-function SNPs associated for autoimmunity be a new source for novel checkpoint blockade targets? 1/n
New #JITC article: Dendritic cell-intrinsic PTPN22 negatively regulates antitumor immunity and impacts anti-PD-L1 efficacy bit.ly/4fla4hb @acerobed
We had wonderful discussions at our first joint work-in-progress session with @UChicagoCOI! We can't wait to create more collaborative spaces for our graduate students and scientists in the future.
It was wonderful listening to Dr. @juliamaxson speak about epigenetic dysfunction in leukemias today. After the seminar, CCB graduate students joined Dr. Maxson for lunch and learned to not let fear get in the way of trying. Thank you for your talk, mentorship, and wise words!
This is Shuxuan Yi! Shuxuan studied biology science at @Tsinghua_Uni and is now interested in understanding the tumor microenvironment (TME) and developing new treatments to help reduce drug resistance. Besides research, she loves raccoons 🦝 and is a video game enjoyer 🥰.
