FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster and CTDOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto recently visited the Gold Star Memorial Bridge—Connecticut’s largest bridge structure!
Under @SecDuffy, FHWA is getting back to basics: building durable infrastructure that enhances safety, boosts mobility, and strengthens our economy.
Why does this $900M multi-year rehabilitation effort matter?
⚓ National Defense: The bridge is a vital transport link for nearby Electric Boat and submarines. Upgrading this bridge ensures suppliers can ship vital materials and heavy military equipment without costly detours.
🚚 Freight & Mobility: Strengthening the structure will eliminate a 12-mile detour for oversized freight along I-95, removing bottlenecks along the entire northeast I-95 corridor as part of @USDOT's commitment to Freedom to Drive.
🛠️ Major Upgrades & Jobs: Modernizing deck, lighting, and steel components while supporting thousands of local jobs!
FHWA is proud to partner with @CTDOTOfficial as major work on the northbound span gets underway.

UPDATE: An Amtrak construction crew accidentally cut into a fiber line in New Jersey which caused a telecom outage and forced FAA to pause flights in the Northeast.
Right now:
- Flights are resuming at LGA and PHL
- Flights into EWR, JFK, and Teterboro Airport are paused
This incident underscores the need for additional funding to modernize aging infrastructure and prevent disruptions like this in the future.

My heart breaks for the family of 50-year-old Brenda Watson, who was killed in the horrific crash by a dangerous foreign driver.
Here’s what we know:
*Singh is in jail on an active Homeland Security detainer
*FMCSA is investigating the carrier and the training school where the trucker, Manjit Singh, received his CDL
*Singh received his CDL from California
To Brenda Watson's loved ones, my prayers are with you. May she rest in peace.
This is exactly why @FMCSA, @DHSgov, @TheJusticeDept, and the @WHFraudTF are fighting so hard to secure our roads.

We’re working to meet the demand for truck drivers in North Dakota and calling on the administration to empower programs like TrainND and at @ndscswildcats to meet the demand for qualified CDL operators, as well as advance federal rules that work for our state’s economy.
We appreciate @FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs for coming to North Dakota to hear directly from transportation, agriculture, and workforce leaders on these issues.

❇️ Streamlined Delivery: Under President Trump & @USDOT @SecDuffy, we’re cutting red tape & getting back to basics.
❇️ Record Investment: $1.7B obligated to South Carolina across 380 active statewide projects.

FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster and Deputy Administrator Jay Payne recently visited Ohio to highlight progress on the transformational Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project—a model for America under the @USDOT’s Freedom to Drive initiative.
Spanning the Ohio River between Cincinnati, OH, and Covington, KY, the Brent Spence Bridge is the backbone of the I-71/I-75 trade corridor. This project will eliminate one of the nation's worst traffic chokepoints and build high-efficiency, high-performance solutions of the future.
This incredible collaboration between @ODOT_Statewide and @KYTC shows what is possible when state and federal partners work together to get shovels in the ground and get America moving again.
