Poverty & discrimination hit hardest in tough times — and in Canada, the most vulnerable always pay the heaviest price. We can look away… or we can act.
At the @SappaniFdn, we choose action. We help BIPOC girls in Canada break cycles of poverty through education.
In our 5th year, we’ve partnered with @CNIB to create an annual award for BIPOC girls with vision loss pursuing post-secondary dreams.
Meet our 2025 recipient: Keerthana Kelly
Blind + hard of hearing, yet unstoppable.
CICE student ✓ Church & community volunteer ✓ Mentor to others ✓ Pure resilience.
She reminds us exactly why this work matters.
If your company has a CSR program, ask yourself: where can your support change lives the most?

Agreed. Let this not be an abuse of work permits like in US H1B. Categories like accountants should not need foreign workers. The LMIA exemption should be for categories like doctors, jobs in rural and remote regions and specialized skills jobs that are highly paid and scarce in Canada.
KPMG is trying to hire 15 foreign accountants in downtown Toronto at $80,000+ each.
In four days, Mark Carney will let corporations hire high wage occupations from abroad without even trying to hire a Canadian first.
Toronto’s unemployment rate is sitting at 7% with youth unemployment at 17%. KPMG should be hiring and training Canadians, not getting a free pass to bypass local workers.
a lot of the ER visits are patients who can be seen by a walk-in clinic but their FHO doctors tell them not to go to walk-in and go to ER. Lot of them go to emergency in hospitals to get prescription renewal 🤷♂️

Hi @MichelleRempel. As you likely know, this was testimony from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, with 103,000 small businesses as members.
The average CFIB member has 5-25 employees and pays us a membership fee of a few hundred dollars per year. And while most are indeed incorporated, your post is quite misleading.
Corporations looking for more temporary foriegn workers can afford to hire lobbyists to advocate on their behalf at Parliamentary Committees.
Unemployed youth can't.
Glad to see Conservatives like @grantjacksonMP fight on their behalf. ⬇️
The story of the Indo - Canadian billionaire founder of Instacart. Dozens of founders and billionaires in Silicon Valley are from canada , Musk, chamath and many more … if only canada can have Silicon Valley north to retain our best and attract top talent here @MarkJCarney ….
In 2012, Apoorva Mehta (@apoorva_mehta) stared at a rejection email from Y Combinator (@ycombinator) partner Garry Tan (@garrytan). “You could submit a late application, but it will be nearly impossible to get you in now.”
Apoorva thought: “that meant it was possible.”
Few people would have read it that way. He was a solo founder, two months past the deadline.
Two years earlier, he had quit @amazon and built about 20 products from a friend’s couch in San Francisco, including a social network for lawyers and a menu-ratings app.
“The result was always failure, failure and more failure,” he said, “I remember this being a pretty low point in my life. Am I even cut out to be an entrepreneur at all?”
In spring of 2012, he opened his fridge and found a bottle of Sriracha.
He flashed back to his teenage winters in Canada, waiting for the bus as plastic grocery bags sliced into his freezing fingers. Finally, he found a problem he personally cared about.
He swore he would not set foot in a grocery store until his app worked. On June 2, 2012, he placed @Instacart’s first order, walked to the store, shopped it himself, and carried the bags to his own door. “Of course, I gave myself a nice tip.” Soon his friends were ordering unprompted.
He sent the late application with a video. Several days later, he received another “No.”
He sat with the rejection and realized nobody at YC had used his app.
So he opened it, ordered a six-pack of @21stAmendment’s Back in Black, and addressed it to Garry Tan at YC headquarters. A driver named John dropped it off and texted him.
Thirty minutes later, his phone rang.
“What is this?” Garry asked.
“This is Instacart!” Apoorva said.
Garry downloaded the app on the spot. Blown away, he invited Apoorva in for an interview the next morning.
The next day, four YC partners grilled him for an hour before asking him to leave. “It felt cold, like there was no chance I would be accepted.”
Ten minutes later, his phone rang again. It was partner Harj Taggar (@harjtaggar):
“I can’t believe we’re doing this. We haven’t let anyone in this late. Ever.” They said yes.
Today, @DoorDash agreed to acquire Instacart for about $17 billion.
“Nearly impossible” still contains the word possible. Sometimes the strongest application is the product itself, delivered to the right door.
If only you stood for immigrants and against racism from Republicans. Indian-Americans are best supporters of Republicans, but X became the primary pot of spreading hatred towards them-not bcos they are a failure, but bcos they are most successful in the US. Vote Democrats 🇺🇸
My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:
1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.

Replying to @DevanaUkraine
The magatards dragged me for this comment for weeks, but sadly: it’s true.
I love this country—and the best thing an executive at a social network can do is communicate when attempts are made to manipulate public discourse.

JD Vance, you just described Bo French.
This is a man who looked at American students celebrating a football victory and declared them foreigners displacing Americans purely based on the color of their skin.
MOST of those students were American citizens.
But that was hardly an isolated incident.
He has called for deporting 100 MILLION people( referring to Hispanic Americans) , advocated deporting Native Americans and openly framed the political struggle as “white vs everyone else.”
This is CLEARLY not a disagreement over immigration policy. This is a pattern of questioning who belongs in America based on race, ethnicity, and religion.
And here's the extraordinary part:
Bo French is STILL the Republican nominee for statewide office in Texas, endorsed by the state's Republican party.
Senator John Cornyn had the courage to publicly condemn him.
Yet I have not heard you or Ken Paxton direct a single word of condemnation toward French.
So, Mr. Vice President, does that standard apply to Bo French, or does it stop at the Republican Party's ballot?
Good job @fordnation @MarkJCarney @oliviachow ; seems all parties are useless on the most important issue of law & order and safety of Canadians 🤦🏽♂️

Dumb woke lefty judges are ruining canada with catch and release laws that dumb Trudeau introduced . Minimum mandatory needs to be reintroduced and a tough on crime approach is needed . Enough of vote pandering @MarkJCarney get tough on crime .

Great piece by @MLInstitute.
One of the biggest disappointments of the Carney government so far is its failure to address Canada's punishing, uncompetitive, and insanely complex tax system.

68% of Patients using medical cannabis reported fewer seizures!
Among those also taking other medicines, about 76% were still on at least one regular anti-seizure drug.
Overall, patients felt medical cannabis was helpful, but many said it was not very affordable.
Many chose products that included THC, not pure CBD.

Indian priest climbs 214-ft Jagannath Temple spire daily without safety gear to change its sacred flag
The centuries-old Hindu tradition is performed by specially trained servitors
It is tied to legends that missing one day would spiritually close the temple for 18 years
When political leaders including @MarkJCarney @PierrePoilievre attend events glorifying terrorism and are surrounded by people who openly glorify it while pandering for votes, radicalization and extremist violence will grow. Politicians need to show leadership, but votes trump principles.
