Hi @MichelleRempel. As you likely know, this was testimony from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, with 103,000 small businesses as members. The average CFIB member has 5-25 employees and pays us a membership fee of a few hundred dollars per year. And while most are indeed incorporated, your post is quite misleading.
Corporations looking for more temporary foriegn workers can afford to hire lobbyists to advocate on their behalf at Parliamentary Committees. Unemployed youth can't. Glad to see Conservatives like @grantjacksonMP fight on their behalf. ⬇️

The magatards dragged me for this comment for weeks, but sadly: it’s true. I love this country—and the best thing an executive at a social network can do is communicate when attempts are made to manipulate public discourse.

JD Vance, you just described Bo French. This is a man who looked at American students celebrating a football victory and declared them foreigners displacing Americans purely based on the color of their skin. MOST of those students were American citizens. But that was hardly an isolated incident. He has called for deporting 100 MILLION people( referring to Hispanic Americans) , advocated deporting Native Americans and openly framed the political struggle as “white vs everyone else.” This is CLEARLY not a disagreement over immigration policy. This is a pattern of questioning who belongs in America based on race, ethnicity, and religion. And here's the extraordinary part: Bo French is STILL the Republican nominee for statewide office in Texas, endorsed by the state's Republican party. Senator John Cornyn had the courage to publicly condemn him. Yet I have not heard you or Ken Paxton direct a single word of condemnation toward French. So, Mr. Vice President, does that standard apply to Bo French, or does it stop at the Republican Party's ballot?
JD Vance at Texas rally: Anybody who would divide us by the color of our skin and say that you're more or less American… that person is a scumbag.

68% of Patients using medical cannabis reported fewer seizures! Among those also taking other medicines, about 76% were still on at least one regular anti-seizure drug. Overall, patients felt medical cannabis was helpful, but many said it was not very affordable. Many chose products that included THC, not pure CBD. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4261…

When mangroves thrive, biodiversity thrives with them. Here is a beautiful glimpse of a golden jackal chilling in Muthupet, one of Tamil Nadu’s largest mangrove forests. Dominated by Avicennia marina, the grey mangrove, this beautiful landscape of lagoon, creeks and mangrove forests shelters a remarkable diversity of life and is birder's paradise #biodiversity #goldenjackal #Mangroves

The Trump administration believes that the US is so large, so wealthy, and so powerful, that everyone else must eventually accommodate whatever they demand, no matter how outlandish. They are mistaken. In @Macleans magazine, I laid out why Trump’s tariff war will prove to be a catastrophic act of self-harm, and why Canada is better placed to endure the struggle. I am grateful to @SorayaElhouni and Jes Mason for kneading my contribution into the magazine’s distinctive style. 📖 per.maharaj.org/trf

Asian-Americans in Harvard’s Incoming Class More Than Double, to 43.2 Percent Newly released data on the Harvard College class of 2030 say the class is 43.2 percent Asian-American, a record high and more than double the level when Students for Fair Admissions first sued Harvard alleging racial discrimination in admissions. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that Harvard was unlawfully using race as a factor in admissions. Since then, the numbers of Hispanic and black students in the incoming Harvard classes have dipped, while the numbers of Asian-Americans have soared.

Asians are now 43% of Harvard’s incoming class. Not even counting the 15% of students who are international admits. White numbers not reported, they seem to have stayed constant or gone down. Merit is back. Nativists will have to start a new movement to bring back DEI.
