1) Posts claim Michigan Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed said it’s OK for young girls to see male genitals in locker rooms because they will see them on the internet anyway. That's false. ❌

🚨Nathalia Gadelha's first instructor and mentor has posted a statement.
I write these words unequivocally…
I was one of Nathalia’s first instructors and mentor.
She was without a doubt the most naturally gifted pilot I have ever taught, and I have been teaching for 40 years!!
That young lady was born to fly!
There was not a check ride that the examiner was not blown away!
When she did her Lear type rating, she had less than 1100 hours and she absolutely aced the PIC type rating and the examiner thought she had about 5000 hours!
I gave her numerous opportunities to fly different airplanes to include tailwheel and the Caravan.
When I gave her her Spin Endorsement for her CFI, we did so many spins that I started to become nauseous! Truth!!
I am saddened, because so many of the pilots in training today never wanted to become pilots and only want to become airline pilots!
As I did check rides, I saw this time and time again!
They had no passion for flying.
They only wanted to get to the airlines to make the big money…
Nathalia was PASSIONATE about flying!!!
She was a 💯% natural born pilot!!!
I pray that she continues to fly amongst the clouds in heaven.
May she rest in peace and God watch over her. ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

We’ve had a staggering 42,000 suggestions of small fixes to improve the UK submitted to
Small-Ideas.org so far. You’ve ‘til 5pm Thur. 12 Nov to add yours!
Here’s a few of them…
- Tell people what their blood group is when they first get a blood test. It will encourage those in rare groups to become blood donors.
- Mandatory ‘AI edited’ label for property photos via estate agency sites
- ‘No wrong door’ rule for reporting issues to councils / public bodies. They must send to right place to stop people being passed from council to contractor to agency.
- Add cycle racks to the back of buses.
- Make grocery manufacturers label when pack sizes change. To tackle shrinkflation.
- Allow drivers to turn left on a red light.
All ideas submitted to Small-Ideas.org by 12 Nov will be assessed on the key criteria, then the best selected by a cross-party panel to turn into a manifesto

Imagine if Elon's $500 million had been spent on education or healthcare. Or the arts. Anything.
Apropos of nothing, a court has decided that the injunction against identifiying an accused celebrity must stay for the time being.
Reading David Walliams’ book “The Boy in the Dress” made me realise that, against the odds, I still have it in me to be naive on matters of gender identity.
I imagined the book (aimed at 8-12-year-olds) to be a clumsy celebration of so-called gender non-conformity. I imagined a boy who likes pink and princesses, perhaps facing some pushback from classmates and family, ultimately being at peace with wearing a dress and embracing his feminine side. I imagined a book that I’d have some issues with, but which I might not dismiss entirely. After all, gender incongruence/gender non-conformity is a marvellous and often natural thing. Boys can like pink. Maybe the book had something positive to say, even if I had to overlook some nonsense, I thought.
The book is so much worse than that…so much worse than I imagined possible for any book aimed at kids. It’s creepy as anything.
Here are a few extracts…

Shocking…
This is Taraneh Alidoosti. The actress who represented Iranian cinema to the world, the star of the film that won the Oscar. What did she do? She posted one photo without the hijab during Woman Life Freedom uprising in 2022 to show her solidarity with the People of Iran .
That is all. She said no to executions, no to the crackdown. That same week they came to her home and took her to Evin prison. When she was released, she was no longer the same Taraneh. Doctors diagnosed her with a rare illness that made her skin fall off and ravaged her body. She is still under treatment.
They say it was caused by drug interaction. Which drugs? What did they give her in that prison? No one answers. Today this photo is going viral across Iran because people want to see the price of one photo without hijab. To the regime it was just a photo.
To us, Taraneh is a woman who gave up everything: her career, her cinema, her health. And even now, in silence, mourning her father, she has not bowed. Taraneh, you did not just remove the hijab. You tore off their mask. We are your voice.

Courage is 'being afraid yet keeping going' and it's not easy to show, when faced with death.
Nathalia remained courageous and professional until the end.
It is a tragedy that her life ended so young but hopefully her professionalism lives on for centuries to come.

Tweet from a misogynist with no clue what he's talking about.
Nathalia's voice was panicked but the information she provided showed remarkable professionalism, that few pilots in her shoes ever showed.
One of the best efforts in the history of aviation.
I'll go through it. /1

Right wingers are sharing this photo of a Rogers, MN poll judge in a “problem solved” shirt with fake blood, calling for her arrest.
Popular misinformers Gateway Pundit and Jack Posobiec say it celebrates Charlie Kirk’s killing.
Turns out, she's actually a Republican and its just a years-old Halloween novelty shirt. The photo was taken Saturday ... on Halloween. facebook.com/story.php?story…

Thank you for speaking calmly and quietly, with slow ,measured movements. It really helps the animal to calm down as well. You folks did it up right!
Beautiful. Thank you for helping that precious creature.

A great advertising move would be a second John Lewis ad in a day or so that says: 'You didn't think that was our real Christmas ad, did you?' and it shows KST leaving the obnoxious family at home while she checks in to fabulous hotel and Gary Oldman is waiting for her😉

You’re telling me people complaining about a story on a plagiarist couldnt be bothered to generate their own complaints?
Well: it’s what he would have wanted.

Just started reading Susie Dent's Guilty By Definition. Enjoying it very much, especially all the new words the Mistress of the Dictionary brings to us. I think I'll be using one such word on here rather a lot: ‘ipsedixitism’, the assertion that something is fact just because one person says so.
Here’s one of the most fascinating child development videos I’ve ever shared.
As your baby learns language, they begin by approximating the examples you set.
After a period of early experimentation with sound (including cries, coos and gurgles), infants begin babbling - making speech-like sounds (which often include components of conventional speech) that are - nonetheless - not yet conventionally meaningful.
This babbling phase is a precursor to the use of formal words. And it happens in all languages.
Including sign language.
This video shows an infant (who, by the way, is not hearing impaired) “babbling” to her deaf grandparents.
As they sign to her, she responds in kind, using her hands to approximate the signed communication that they are modeling.
It’s a whole serve and return conversation, just as if they were conversing verbally.
If you’ll watch carefully, you’ll note distinct turn taking.
And - interestingly - that with her grandparents she largely avoids vocalizations, in favor of gesture.
What a treat to see this rich example of bilingual language development.
