Most developers live in the terminal, so now #Voiden does too. 🥳
Your .void workflows are no longer tied to the app. Run them anywhere: local machines, Docker containers, CI pipelines, or cron jobs.
It’s the same workflows, just headless: request chains, runtime variables, and assertions all execute exactly as they do in the UI.
🔮 Key capabilities:
- Run anywhere: From dev machines to CI runners — .void files become portable execution units.
-Multiple outputs: Human-readable by default, or switch to JSON, CSV reports, or HTML.
- Runtime variables: Just like in the app, the runner keeps a persistent session of runtime variables between requests.
- Core plugins as in the app: scripting, assertions, faker, auth, GraphQL etc.
- REST, WebSocket, gRPC, GraphQL fully supported.
Install once, run anywhere. The Voiden app is where you build API workflows. The CLI is where you automate them.
The Voiden Runner is available with the new beta release and looking for people to try it:

Yesterday GET /orders returned 3 items. After today's deploy: 200 and an empty list.
What did it return yesterday? Nobody saved it.
In @VoidenMD , turn on request history and each response is kept locally: body, headers, status, timing. Copy the old one as cURL for the bug report.

🔐 @PhurpaG37047 built a plugin so your Voiden .void files can hold {{vault.api_token}} and never the real secret.
It resolves from your secret manager at request time.
Supports Vault, Doppler, Infisical, Bitwarden & KeePassXC.
Next: 1Password or AWS Secrets Manager?

Just found Voiden, and it looks like a really useful tool for developers.
Voiden is an offline, Git-native API workspace where you can build, test, and document APIs in one place.
It supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSockets, so you don’t need different tools for different API workflows.
What I like most is that everything stays in simple .void files. You can manage them like normal code, use Git, and collaborate through branches and pull requests.
It also supports scripting, API testing, request chaining, and CI/CD workflows.
No signup. No required cloud sync. No cloud lock-in.
If you’re looking for a simple, open-source alternative to tools like Postman or Insomnia, Voiden is definitely worth checking out.

The file I edit, the file CI runs and the file my agent calls should be the same file.
Best argument against: agents can call anything CI can.
In Voiden a request is an agent tool only while its tests pass. Test breaks, tool's gone.
Enough, or should agents get less than CI?
@VoidenMD just crossed 2k stars on GitHub. 14k+ installs.
The way we read it: #developers want API work to be different: live in the repo, run headless, and stay free and open source.
Thank you to every contributor, issue-filer, beta tester and user.
You’re building this with us.

If CI runs a different copy of your API tests than your laptop does, one of them is out of date.
With Voiden, the .void file your reviewer reads in the PR is the file CI runs:
npx @voiden/runner run ./api-tests --fail-on-error

Most API clients ship every protocol to everyone. @VoidenMD doesn't.
In Voiden, REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, gRPC, scripts and assertions are plugins. Open the Extensions tab and switch off what you don't use.
Only testing REST? Turn the rest off.
What plugin should exist next?

Most of a DevTools HAR file is fonts, CSS and images.
@pabloedudh built a Voiden plugin that drops those and turns API calls into .void files to commit.
Then JWT Faker: sign test tokens, even alg:none.
Love seeing the community take Voiden new places 🚀
What would you build?

Huge thanks to @pabloedudh for building these awesome plugins! 🙌
Most API clients open a new request as a form: URL bar, then tabs for Params, Headers, Body, Auth, Scripts, Tests. Some stay empty.
In Voiden you paste the curl from the docs into a .void file and get only the blocks it needs: Endpoint, Headers, JSON body etc.
Need auth? Add that as a new block.

→ Reworked Commit History: hover a commit for author, message and files
→ Requests inherit .env files from parent folders
→ Optional request fields
→ Choose what opens on startup
→ Fixes across Git, envs, gRPC and saving

so two people on the same repo can get different instructions because of a file only one of them has. from my experience building @VoidenMD the files agents read work best when the whole team sees them in PRs. is there a quick way to check which one loaded?

Hi X 👋 I'm Sandeep, a dev working where APIs meet AI.
I'll be sharing:

What are you building with AI right now?

heavier how, the app itself or everything around it (workspaces, login, sync)? we built @VoidenMD the other way round: a request is just a markdown file in your repo and nothing else.

Happy to have @spoonacular's food insights on @ApyHub, ready as APIs: food search, ingredients and wine pairing.
