Gino, looking resplendent. One of the loveliest families one could ever meet. I know that this has meant a lot to them.
The owner of one of Glasgow’s best-known cafes has been immortalised in a portrait by an artist who has painted King Charles III.
Gino Verrecchia, owner of the University Cafe, has been painted by Gareth Reid as part of Coca-Cola Great Britain’s Local Royalty campaign, which celebrates the contribution of independent businesses to communities across the country.
Reid previously painted King Charles III in 2019, when he was still Prince of Wales.
The portrait will feature in an exhibition at London’s Saatchi Gallery from October 28 to November 2, alongside portraits of three other independent business owners.
The campaign aims to highlight the role of independent businesses on Britain’s high streets by presenting their owners in a style traditionally associated with royalty, celebrities and prominent public figures 👇
