Time to start making some doxxed content.
Wake up, Bitcoiner (part 1)
Bitcoin was not built so Wall Street could custody it for you.
It was not built so you could stare at a number in a brokerage account.
Bitcoin was built to be permissionless freedom money.
No bank.
No government.
No payment processor.
No frozen account.
No middleman.
That was the point.
That is still the point.
#Bitcoin #SelfCustody
I know multiple people who basically quit working on Bitcoin because of how stressful it is to maintain software that handles money nowadays.
I tell them all the same thing: What do you think will happen if we all quit and become gardeners? Are we just going to give up on the internet? Do we just accept fiat as the end game? Are we just going to let go of the dream of an internet that doesn't exploit your humanity and take away your rights to privacy and self-determination?
I know, fuck, it is hard. But you're not alone.
We must fix this. Nobody else is there to do the necessary work. If we stop doing this, we're 100% doomed. I can guarantee it.
But if we continue, we have a chance.

🚨 I'm not saying nothing else ships. BUT $TAO. One week. Nine independent teams. Nine subnets.
• SN120 @affine_io: launched the first public AI video studio on Bittensor, with text to video and sound
• SN9 @IOTA_SN9: decentralized training merges 5x faster, 32 to 7 minutes
• SN23 @trishoolai: Astroware AI safety platform live, HaloGuard EU screening AI outputs
• SN51 @lium_io: $30M+ of GPU hardware, 225 B300s, 91% rented
• SN75 @Hippius_cloud: Confidential Compute, a full encrypted cloud
• SN28 @say_gm_: up to 43% cheaper than OpenRouter on selected models
• SN71 @LeadpoetAI: AI sales agent, used by Dropbox and others
• SN85 @vidaio_: third sales partner signed
• SN34 @yugosai: picks the best AI model for each request
Video, training, security, compute, cloud, routing and sales, all in seven days. No central roadmap. No single company deciding what to build.
I'm saying here I haven't found another crypto network where this many independent teams ship this much, in public, in one week.
Show me one and I'll look.
That's what an engine looks like.
Each team is a gear.
$TAO is what turns them.
This is what compounding looks like from the inside.
$TAO
DYOR.

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Banks want your SSN, government ID, proof of address, phone number, email, employment status, your closest trusted person (beneficiary), electronic signature, and a deposit.
Then they charge you for not having enough money.
Hell of a business model. Bitcoin fixes this.

Telegram is not encrypted and has been sharing chats and user data with governments for years.
Pavol Durov is a liar and a manipulator.
He wants you to believe that Telegram is safe while it clearly isn’t. Telegram is the biggest privacy psyop in the world.
Here's how exactly Telegram provides user data to U.S. authorities. A letter recently filed in court shows how Telegram transfers that data, such as IP address and phone number.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The court letter referenced in the quoted post shows Telegram voluntarily providing account metadata in response to a U.S. legal request. The letter and reports do not indicate that message content from private chats was shared.

Don’t trust. Read the BIPs.
Because nobody does.
They’re written by developers, for developers.
So I built BIP Explorer: all 213 Bitcoin Improvement Proposals in plain English, plus a map of how each one led to the next.

Stoked to announce this!
Zark is a transfer-of-ownership protocol that collapses offchain histories into compact zero-knowledge proofs.
Previous bitcoin l2 implementations have shown that co-signers can be blinded and unaware of what they’re signing. In some designs, users validate the history of offchain coins they receive.
Zark compresses these histories into recursive zero-knowledge proofs. A side effect is that this removes the need for users to learn who a coin’s previous owners are.
Zark is based on the statechain paradigm. It enables users to transfer ownership of bitcoin UTXOs offchain with the help of a co-signer. In Zark, users can also engage in offchain coinswaps to transfer ownership for bitcoin UTXOs for other bitcoin UTXOs. We’re looking at adding support to swaps against tokens on alternative networks, like we did in our bitcoin dark pools demo with @mercurylayer.
Current research areas for us:
- Leaf splitting while retaining privacy for branches
- Scalability!
- Optimizing zk-circuits and proving system
Circuits are written in @noirlang.
I had a great time at BTC Prague. Diving into the origins of Bitaxe and OSMU with collaborator and friend @wantclue on stage was amazing. Huge thanks to the organizers.
We didn’t talk lottery hype nonsense at all. Not sure why it’s being promoted like that 🤷♂️
