BREAKING: WA Democrats REJECT their "millionaire tax" only being for millionaires by shooting down Amendment 696 on SB 6346. There it is... as we have been arguing, this tax will be a broad-based income tax on everyone, as early as next year.

THE MILEAGE TAX: Last year, the public and Legislative Republicans defeated The Mileage Tax from Olympia Democrats for the third year in a row. The tax proposal did not come back in 2026. Under the defeated Mileage Tax proposal, mileage would be calculated by a GPS tracker, annual odometer checks, and more. Olympia Democrats want to charge you a 2.6-cent mileage tax on EVERY MILE YOU DRIVE (HB 1921 & SB 5726). Even worse, you would get taxed on an additional 10% of your annual mileage tax sum. A TAX ON A TAX. Legislative Republicans and the public fought this terrible proposal every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who Signed-in CON against The Mileage Tax (HB 1921/SB 5726)! The Mileage Tax scheme, or "Road Usage Charge," comes from the mostly Inslee-appointed WA Transportation Commission. It would greatly increase the cost of living for many. These terrible policies would especially harm people on fixed incomes, ride-share drivers & users, truckers, delivery services, and those living in rural areas (#tbt). Stay vigilant, The Mileage Tax may return. #CarWars #PainInTheGas #MileTax #GovernmentGreed #StopTheGreed #waleg

Former WA Governor Gary Locke (D) slams the utter lack of budget discipline from the far left majority. Washington State has been locked into cycles of tax and spend madness. There have also been some unpopular cuts from the far left, including gutting $782 MILLION out of Medicaid, which was complete unnecessary. The Senate Republican budget did not have this big cut in Medicaid and had no service cuts WITHOUT raising taxes (SB 5810). The reckless spending has many, many consequences. In 2025 and 2026, Gov. Bob Ferguson and the far left passed back-to-back budgets with the largest tax increases in state history, on top of decades of tax increases, in order to fund their reckless spending and there's still a budget shortfall (SB 5167 & SB 5998). And what about fraud, waste, and abuse? Remember the squandered $15 BILLION surplus? The missing $1.17 BILLION in COVID money? The $646 MILLION stolen from unemployment? The $340 MILLION going to non-citizens? And so much more... A growing number of commonsense Democrats are joining Independents and Republicans in recognizing that Washington State has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. It's well past time to fix our home! Source: The Center Square #GovernmentGreed #StopTheGreed #ReturnAffordability #waleg

It was reported earlier this year that Governor Ferguson’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) had an un-auditable $416 MILLION of taxpayer funds, according to State Auditor Pat McCarthy (D). Taxpayer funded daycare fraud is being exposed nationwide. And don't forget about the known fraud, waste, and abuse: A squandered $15 BILLION surplus, the largest tax increases and spending spree in state history in back-to-back years (SB 5167 in 2025 & SB 5998 in 2026), $1.17 BILLION in missing COVID money, $646 MILLION of unemployment money being stolen by Nigerian scammers, $340 MILLION going to non-citizens, and so much more. Imagine what these BILLIONS alone could have paid for. It's well past time for state government to be responsible and accountable with your money. It's a lesson most families understand: You can't keep spending more than you bring in. Former Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire says the same principle applies to state government. Drawing on her experience leading Washington through the Great Recession, Gregoire talks with Sen. dangers of relying on one-time money to pay for ongoing programs. Neighborhoods with these dangerous housing policies have experienced urban blight, small business exodus, and more vulnerable populations dying on the street. Enough is enough.

While far left WA State leaders passed record tax increases, they failed to investigate daycares with no children receiving taxpayer funds according to The Center Square. This is despite the issue being covered heavily in media. It was reported earlier this year that Governor Ferguson’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) had an un-auditable $416 MILLION of taxpayer funds, according to State Auditor Pat McCarthy (D). Fiscal Incompetence: WA is forecasted to have a significant budget shortfall in the BILLIONS. This comes after Gov. Bob Ferguson and the far left passed a budget with the largest tax increases in state history this year (SB 5998), another budget with the second largest tax ory last year (SB 5167), cut $782 MILLION out of Medicaid (SB 5167), went on a record spending spree (SB 5998 & SB 5167), and more. All of these actions greatly contributed to the affordability crisis in our state. Enough is enough. Washington State has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. #GovernmentGreed #StopTheGreed #ReturnAffordability #waleg

UNCONSCIONABLE: Washington State's Sentencing Guidelines Commission, appointed by the Governor and Legislative Democrats, voted 7-2 to LOWER the penalties for those convicted in sex sting operations against minors, also known as "Net Nanny" Operations. Last year, WA Democrats submitted a similar policy in legislation with SB 5312. It was defeated by outrage from the public and Legislative Republicans (#tbt). We have adamantly opposed this dangerous and tone-deaf idea. Children need more protection from criminals and those seeking to do them harm, not less. #UnsafeWA #UnaccountableWA #ThrowbackThursday #waleg

Dubious Distinction: Washington State ranks dead last (50 out of 50 states) for farm profitability according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). State level policies including high fuel costs/taxes, high taxes overall, and a mountain of red tape keeps constraining our farmers and the agricultural community. We are losing two farms everyday in our state on average too (Source: Seattle Times). We must lower, not increase, the cost of doing businesses for farmers. Fuel prices can be reduced immediately by 55 cents a gallon of gas through pausing the Climate Commitment Act and Low Carbon Fuel Standards. Farmers provide our food. It's well past time for state government to stop hindering them and instead have their backs. #GovernmentGreed #StopTheGreed #ReturnAffordability #waleg

LOWER GAS PRICES NOW: WA State Senate Republicans are formally requesting that Governor Bob Ferguson immediately call a special session for one clear purpose: Lower gas prices by pausing climate fuel taxes from the Climate Commitment Act (SB 5126, passed in 2021 and enacted in 2023) and the low-carbon fuel standards. These actions would take 55 cents off the price of a gallon of gas. These sky-high state taxes are hitting Washington families and individuals hard at the pump. According to AAA, the average gas price in Washington is currently $5.37 a gallon — a full $1.09 higher than the national average of $4.28. Gas taxes went up again on July 1st. It’s time for state government to lower the cost of fuel, not keep raising it. Families and working people need real, meaningful relief. Education Freedom Tax Credits: Several SRC Senators, led by Sen. Leonard Christian, strongly urge Gov. Bob Ferguson to sign up our state for a Federal program that expands education right here. It would give students significantly more resources for their education and comes with no additional cost to taxpayers. Washington State has until January 1st to decide whether to enroll into the program. Do the right thing, @GovBobFerguson. There’s no downside to it.
