West Coast climate policies are the root cause of why gas prices are over $1.00 more here than the rest of the U.S. It's also why your utility costs are sky-high and rising.
The Climate Commitment Act (SB 5126 in 2021, enacted 2023) and the Clean Energy Transformation Act (SB 5116 in 2019) are driving forces behind this.
The Mountain States Policy Center has an excellent piece explaining this in The Center Square Washington: ow.ly/E4zo50ZvxRl

NEW WA GAS PRICE RECORD: According to AAA, the price for a gallon of gas is $5.61 in WA, a full $1.22 over the national average. Energy policies, including the Climate Commitment Act (CCA) from the far left, are responsible for roughly $1.45 of state taxes per gallon (SB 5126 in 2021, enacted 2023).
The same energy policies are hiking utility bills and spiking grocery prices too. One major example: Puget Sound Energy is requesting 30% cumulative utility rate hikes on electricity (and a 20% hike on gas) from the Governor's Utility and Transportation Commission, on top of the 12% hike earlier this year, to comply with the CCA.
We need energy policies, that lower, not raise the high cost of living in Washington State.

If the Senate Republican Budget had passed (SB 5810), there would have been no new taxes, no tax increases, and no service cuts. Our budget had fiscal restraint and focused on eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse.
We proved it's very possible to have a budget like this. You and your family deserve better.

Great News! Sen. Jeff Wilson announces a major victory in Olympia that should be front page news. SB 5973, dubbed the “Initiative Killer Bill," is dead! He thanks everyone who Signed-in CON against the bill, which would severely impacted the Initiative Process and silence millions of WA voters.
Wilson also urges continued vigilance while celebrating the successful effort to protect citizen-driven legislation. Thank you for participating in your state government. We could not have done this without you!
"When we're pushed too far, I think we can all count on each other to come together to put a very bad bill like this down. And we did just that." -Sen. Jeff Wilson

Another $1 BILLION wasted?!
Once again, Washington State is being highlighted for wasting hard-working taxpayer money. According to ChangeWA, up to $1 BILLION may be wasted from Labor & Industries in IT projects that are being scrapped. No one has been fired, demoted, or punished for it.
We fought hard for accountable spending in our budget with no new taxes, no tax increases, and no service cuts by focusing on waste, fraud, and abuse in state government (SB 5810). WA Democrats wouldn't even let our budget come to the floor for a vote, then they voted it down twice, after we engaged in rare parliamentary maneuvers to force a vote. Afterwards, WA Democrats voted to shut the public out of the budget process, and passed the LARGEST TAX INCREASES & spending spree in WA State History (SB 5167). Enough is enough.
Whether you're left, right, or center, everyone should care about wasted funds and transparency in government.
Imagine what $1 BILLION could have paid for.

BREAKING: WA House Democrats just scheduled the Income Tax on Everyone (SB 6346) for a public hearing next Tuesday, February 24th at 8:00am in the House Finance Committee.
Sign-in CON on SB 6346: ow.ly/SCEy50YhV23
SB 6346 is disingenuously being branded as a "millionaire tax" by the far left and special interests, but they rejected Amendment 696 which ensured this tax is only for millionaires. This tax can be applied to everyone as early as next year by amending it --- without a vote of the people.
61,000+ people Signed-in CON on SB 6346 for the Senate Hearing, a state record. Since then, three WA Senate Democrats voted no on SB 6346 and one WA House Democrat announced their opposition to it.
We must keep up the pressure! We CAN defeat this unaffordable and unconstitutional bill. Please Sign-in CON, even if you've done so already, so we can stop it in the House.
Make it loud and clear to the far left: NO MORE TAXES!!!

WA Senate Democrats passed SB 5974, an unconstitutional bill allowing unelected boards remove locally elected Sheriffs at-will. Public safety and constitutional principles shouldn't be compromised for political agendas.
Time to fight SB 5974 in the House. We must not give up!

The fight for press freedom in WA.
Today @RepBaumgartner and I sent a letter to WA House Speaker Laurie Jinkins requesting she reverse her decision to deny @thehoffather, @BrandiKruse, and @choeshow press passes in the House. This is a violation of their First Amendment rights and should be reversed immediately.

BREAKING…Majority Democrats in Olympia just dropped a bill to impose an income tax in Washington state, ignoring that the people of Washington have rejected similar unconstitutional income taxes 11 times.
Senate Republican Leader John Braun, R-Centralia, and House Republican Leader Drew Stokesbary, R-Auburn, shared the following reactions to Senate Bill 6346's details:
Sen. John Braun: “This income-tax proposal has been a long time in the making. Majority Democrats have pushed for it for years. They know it is unconstitutional, yet they are determined to pass it and rush it before the Washington State Supreme Court, hoping liberal justices will overturn the long-standing classification of income as property. Democrats claim the tax would apply only to persons earning more than $1 million a year. What they don’t say is that it would hit small businesses -- hard. It also punishes married couples by taxing their combined income at the same rate as that of individuals. Democrats justify this by arguing that our tax code is regressive, but this proposal doesn't repeal any regressive taxes. They simply want more money. It’s never enough.”
Rep. Drew Stokesbary: “Republicans are united against any income tax because we know that eventually an income tax on anyone will turn into an income tax on everyone. If Democrats were truly interested in making our tax code less regressive, they would focus on lowering taxes for the people who can afford them the least.”
Summary of the income-tax:
•Levies a 9.9% rate on individuals with Washington taxable income over $1 million, which also captures many small businesses.
•Also applies to married couples who earn $1 million combined -- not $1 million each.
•Projected to raise $4 billion per year.
•Amends the I-2111 law passed in Olympia in 2024 (Prohibition on Income Tax) to say the state income-tax prohibition does not apply to this act.
•Applies to income from public pensions (current law prohibits state and local taxation of such funds.)
•Begins in January 2028.
