Very sad to learn RAF pilot George Dunn DFC has died aged 103. Privileged to raise many a glass with him over the years, he once told me, "The war was a bit of an adventure; a toss up who survived. I did, friends didn't. That's the luck of the draw". RIP old friend. Duty done 🍷

Herman Goering during his interviews ahead of the Nuremberg trails claimed to be opposed to the killing of downed British and American aircrews. However, documentary evidence of a memo from 1944 suggests he said otherwise- 'The Reichmarshal wishes to suggest.... are to be shot at once at the locality of the action' #nuremberg

Herman Goering on the looting of artwork across Europe. Attempting to justify this during interogation prior to the Nuremberg trails. He states the Nazi's intention was to start an art gallery. 'which was meant to hand over to the German people' #nuremberg

I love this drone shot from @WeHappyFew506 of the group at Gela. Zooming in you can see the sand map as we discussed the Rangers and US 1st Inf Div landings. How the 82nd AB Div drops aimed to cut off main routes towards Gela. And the counter attacks by Italian infantry and armour, then followed by the Herman Goring Division.

Back from Sicily after leading a tour for @WeHappyFew506. It was great to have the opportunity to take Bobby Schofield, who portrayed David Kershaw in @BBC SAS Rouge Heroes along. Especially to the Lamba Doria battery which was featured in Season 2. A good amount of ground covered and plenty of historical locations visited.

A great day out on the ground looking at the British landings for Operation Husky in Sicily. We had an insightful Q&A session with Bobby Schofield who portrayed David Kershaw in the BBC ‘SAS Rouge Heroes’ series. We discussed the realities of the attack on the Batteria Lamba Doria, the historical facts compared to the fiction of the series. We then followed the advance to the north of the peninsula.

Great video from the @DasPanzermuseum, about time someone called this miss information out. I have visited the museum twice this year, they have a superb collection. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to here if you ever get the chance.

Russell Satazhan was in the 1st Infantry Division and lost his right arm in Germany. Gene Metcalf was in the 82nd Airborne Division and was taken prisoner in Operation Market Garden. These are a few of the WWII veterans that will be returning to the battlefields of Europe to tell their stories this fall. Check the video linked in the comments for more details on how you can help and then do us a favor by sharing the video on your social media outlets. Thanks.
