Tragic news out of the All Blacks hotel in Scotland where All Blacks head of security Logan Cadwallader died of a medical event on Sunday.
Logan had been with the All Blacks for 10 years and was a hugely trusted hero inside the inner workings of the All Blacks group.
Logan leaves behind his wife Nannette and three children.
#RIP Logan.
I hope the team does something special at Murrayfield on Saturday to remember him before the game.

RIP Ciara 🙏
Some stories leave you lost for words, and the heartbreaking news surrounding Ciara Mageean has touched the hearts of the entire country. Perhaps it has hit me particularly hard because I spend so much of my time at weddings, sharing in the joy, love and excitement of couples beginning their lives together. I wanted to pay tribute to Ciara in the only way I know how, through my artwork. Just a small gesture to honour someone whose story has touched so many. My thoughts are with her husband, family and friends. ❤️ Rest peacefully, Ciara.
Good Piece!

Ciara Mageean - R.I.P.
Ciara Mageean died this morning. A light has gone out in the world. Authentic, talented, decent. Her kindness and wonderful personality was a joy to watch and see. Then came her iconic sporting achievements.
When we sat down with Ciara for the GAA Social in July, she received disappointing news the day before. Ciara didn’t want to cancel, so we recorded on the Tuesday. It’s 90 minutes Oisin & myself will always treasure. She was the best of us.
To Thomas, I’m so sorry. She was mad about you. To the Mageean family, all her great friends and the Portaferry community- what a stunning human being, to call one of your own. This is so unfair.
I’ve never met a person who met Ciara, who didn’t love her. A one off.

Every great service has a moment where a guest asks, "What would you recommend?"
WSET training helps you answer with real knowledge and real confidence.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is one of the world's most respected names in wine and spirits education. Employers across the international drinks and hospitality industry recognise its qualifications, and they're a common first step for people moving into roles like sommelier, bar manager, or beverage lead.
Through the WSET Ireland Bursary Programme, successful applicants will receive funding to complete:
🍷 WSET Level 1: a practical introduction covering the main styles, tasting and describing, storage and service, and food pairing. No prior knowledge needed.
🥃 WSET Level 2: a step up, exploring the world's key grape varieties and regions (or the main spirit categories), how they're made and how to talk about them with guests.
Courses are available in Wines and/or Spirits and are delivered through participating WSET course providers here in Ireland.
For front-of-house staff, bartenders and anyone who serves guests, these skills make a difference from the very next shift. For those planning their next move, a WSET qualification is a strong addition to any CV.
The RAI Benevolent Fund runs the programme to support hospitality professionals experiencing long-term financial hardship. Up to 20 places are available.

Sean Coppinger - R.I.P. 🙏
Connacht Rugby is today in mourning following the news that our friend and colleague, Seán Coppinger, has passed away following a short illness.
A native of Mervue in Galway City, Seán joined Connacht Rugby in 2015 and over the subsequent 11 years played an integral part in the day-to-day running of the organisation.
As a key member of the Operations team, Seán carried out his duties with tireless dedication, passion, and pride in his work.
Above all else, his warmth and kindness made him a cherished member of the Connacht Rugby family and he will be missed by everyone who worked with him over the years.

⚡️ Statement by the Embassy of Russia in Ireland (October 23, 2026)
The much-publicised discussion in Ireland of the issues with the “Triple Lock” legislation and Irish neutrality includes continuing references to Russia made by the leaders of the Irish government, which contain unfounded allegations, as well as misrepresentation of the way the UN Peacekeeping mechanism works.
In the course of the debate in the Dáil on October 21, Helen McEntee, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Defence, strongly objected to the current “Triple Lock” legislation on the grounds that it presumably allows Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, “to have a say over which peacekeeping missions we can send our troops to”, or even to veto Irish participation in such missions, and that ostensibly does not sit well with the Minister who believes that Russia is “attacking European member-states, including Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland”.
We strongly believe that any decisions on the matters of neutrality or any other policy matters are sovereign issues to be discussed and decided solely by the Irish government and the Irish people. At the same time, it is obvious that such decisions – whatever they are – should not be made under false assumptions, which is exactly the case with the Minister’s statements. Contrary to her assertions, the UN Security Council does not vote on what countries take part in a peacekeeping mission – its composition is agreed in the course of multilateral consultations conducted by the UN Secretariat and the interested UN member-countries. Also, there is no known record of Russia being against Ireland’s participation in any UN peacekeeping mission. Consequently, the allegations by Minister McEntee are reprehensible and misleading, grossly distorting the substance and the meaning of procedures provided by the UN Charter.
❗️In the same manner, the Minister’s speculations over Russia’s “attacks” on the EU countries are totally baseless, dangerously provocative and unacceptable. This kind of rhetoric is unthinkable for any responsible member of a government.
It is regrettable that the Irish government has chosen to deliberately question the workings of the UN – despite its much-advertised commitment to the central role of the UN in the international order – with the aim to promote domestic policy agenda. It is also incumbent upon Irish leadership to realise that exercises in Russophobia cannot make up for a serious failure in its approach to relations with Russia and issues of peace and stability in Europe.
