Tragic news out of the All Blacks hotel in Scotland where All Blacks head of security Logan Cadwallader died of a medical event on Sunday. Logan had been with the All Blacks for 10 years and was a hugely trusted hero inside the inner workings of the All Blacks group. Logan leaves behind his wife Nannette and three children. #RIP Logan. I hope the team does something special at Murrayfield on Saturday to remember him before the game. #allblacks

Every great service has a moment where a guest asks, "What would you recommend?" WSET training helps you answer with real knowledge and real confidence. The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is one of the world's most respected names in wine and spirits education. Employers across the international drinks and hospitality industry recognise its qualifications, and they're a common first step for people moving into roles like sommelier, bar manager, or beverage lead. Through the WSET Ireland Bursary Programme, successful applicants will receive funding to complete: 🍷 WSET Level 1: a practical introduction covering the main styles, tasting and describing, storage and service, and food pairing. No prior knowledge needed. 🥃 WSET Level 2: a step up, exploring the world's key grape varieties and regions (or the main spirit categories), how they're made and how to talk about them with guests. Courses are available in Wines and/or Spirits and are delivered through participating WSET course providers here in Ireland. For front-of-house staff, bartenders and anyone who serves guests, these skills make a difference from the very next shift. For those planning their next move, a WSET qualification is a strong addition to any CV. The RAI Benevolent Fund runs the programme to support hospitality professionals experiencing long-term financial hardship. Up to 20 places are available. Find out more at rai.ie/training (link in bio). #raibenevolentfund #wset #wsetireland #winetraining #spiritseducation

⚡️ Statement by the Embassy of Russia in Ireland (October 23, 2026) The much-publicised discussion in Ireland of the issues with the “Triple Lock” legislation and Irish neutrality includes continuing references to Russia made by the leaders of the Irish government, which contain unfounded allegations, as well as misrepresentation of the way the UN Peacekeeping mechanism works. In the course of the debate in the Dáil on October 21, Helen McEntee, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Defence, strongly objected to the current “Triple Lock” legislation on the grounds that it presumably allows Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, “to have a say over which peacekeeping missions we can send our troops to”, or even to veto Irish participation in such missions, and that ostensibly does not sit well with the Minister who believes that Russia is “attacking European member-states, including Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland”. We strongly believe that any decisions on the matters of neutrality or any other policy matters are sovereign issues to be discussed and decided solely by the Irish government and the Irish people. At the same time, it is obvious that such decisions – whatever they are – should not be made under false assumptions, which is exactly the case with the Minister’s statements. Contrary to her assertions, the UN Security Council does not vote on what countries take part in a peacekeeping mission – its composition is agreed in the course of multilateral consultations conducted by the UN Secretariat and the interested UN member-countries. Also, there is no known record of Russia being against Ireland’s participation in any UN peacekeeping mission. Consequently, the allegations by Minister McEntee are reprehensible and misleading, grossly distorting the substance and the meaning of procedures provided by the UN Charter. ❗️In the same manner, the Minister’s speculations over Russia’s “attacks” on the EU countries are totally baseless, dangerously provocative and unacceptable. This kind of rhetoric is unthinkable for any responsible member of a government. It is regrettable that the Irish government has chosen to deliberately question the workings of the UN – despite its much-advertised commitment to the central role of the UN in the international order – with the aim to promote domestic policy agenda. It is also incumbent upon Irish leadership to realise that exercises in Russophobia cannot make up for a serious failure in its approach to relations with Russia and issues of peace and stability in Europe.

Dear God, what sort of cruel and inhumane welfare system are we running? This woman had to fly in and out of Ireland every fortnight for six months just to collect Jobseeker’s Allowance while living abroad. The flights. The queues. The carbon footprint. Could we not have paid the €9,103 directly into her bank account and spared her the commute? And then someone checked the addresses she supplied and discovered she had never lived at any of them. Honestly, the terrible intrusion of checking whether a claimant actually lives where they say they do. Apparently, the flights lined up with the collection dates. At least somebody involved had a reliable administrative system. Yes, her illness and the disruption to her treatment deserve sympathy. The guilty plea was to theft, however, and sympathy doesn’t make the payments an entitlement. Perhaps the department could introduce a frequent-flyer scheme: collect ten payments, get priority boarding on the eleventh. Jobseeker’s Allowance with airport lounge access. We really must move with the times. 🙄 And now a fraud conviction? When she’d gone to all that trouble? I trust an interdepartmental working group as well as a plethora of NGOs already investigating how we made this so inconvenient. 🙄
