In Mario Kart Wii, asphalt is slightly shiny, reflecting a band of light ahead of the player. This is implemented cleverly by leveraging something that the Wii is already doing, allowing it to not need to use any sort of additional lighting or post-processing.

In Mario Kart Wii, there is a small inconsistency while playing in 4:3 aspect ratio: when challenging a ghost to a Time Trial, the character and vehicle will appear larger than normal (3)
This is because, in this instance, the scale wasn't modified from its 16:9 counterpart (4)

The maximum number of stickers that can be placed is set to 40, but since stickers cannot overlap, encountering this message here during normal gameplay is basically impossible.

In World 8-7 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, releasing a mushroom on the third Spine Coaster but not collecting it results in an entertaining interaction whereby the Spine Coaster will balance the mushroom on its nose, like a seal trained to balance a ball.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 contains an unused "joyful zone" area that, when entered, causes Mario to be unable to stop running and somersaulting. I have enveloped the entirety of Starship Mario in a joyful zone for demonstrative purposes.
