I use words, sometime carefully. I want to entertain; I also want to appall. My unpublished narratives are much gentler than I intend.

In an unknown universe.

While masked and murderous government agents ravage our streets, those who enable their predation complain about a lack of respect. The Roberts Court legitimizes Trump's treachery then begs for our approval. They deserve exactly the contempt they've shown the least among us.
Private jets. Luxury vacations. Ethical scandals. Thomas, Alito and Roberts demand respect while the Supreme Court’s credibility crumbles. Steve on the Court’s crisis of accountability. Read it here: steveschmidt.substack.com/p/…

Not only is he a partisan hack, and corrupt to the core. He is a liar.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said increasingly harsh criticism of the court from political leaders can be "quite damaging" to the institution. "The criticism of the court by President Biden and justices by President Biden and his administration was very harsh. And President Trump has been very harsh," he told CBS News' @JanCBS. Alito said the court's job is to interpret the Constitution "as best we can" and apply it to the cases that come before them: "We are not part of any political movement. And we are not attempting to further any political agenda."

Silly is fun. Do we have any room left for pure silliness?
Remembering iconic comic Groucho Marx, born today in 1890. "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies."

Yesterday, @RoKhanna, @RepTeresaLF, and I launched a discharge petition to collect 218 signatures to force a vote on Epstein Files Transparency Act II. Now there are rumors @SpeakerJohnson will soon recess the House until after the midterm elections… to avoid the vote?!

A woman one month into a new job at the FDA was handed an application to approve a sleeping pill. It looked routine. They gave it to her because she was new and it seemed like an easy one to start on. She read the file and something was missing. No evidence at all that the drug was safe in pregnancy, and it was being sold as a remedy for morning sickness. The drug was thalidomide, and West Germany was getting through a million doses a day. Frances Kelsey asked for more data. The company sent representatives to her office, then telephoned her at all hours, then went over her head to her supervisors. Between them they contacted her and her boss around fifty separate times. She later said most of what they called her could not be printed. Ten million tablets were already sitting in warehouses waiting for her signature. She said no six times. And while she held the line, doctors in Germany and Australia were piecing together what was happening to babies whose mothers had taken it. Limbs that had never formed, hands and feet attached directly at the shoulder and hip, in at least 4,000 children across Europe. The company withdrew its American application in 1962. Seventeen cases turned up in the United States, all from free samples doctors had handed out before any approval. Without her it would have been thousands. Congress passed a new law that same year requiring companies to prove a drug is both safe and effective, and requiring informed consent from anyone in a trial. Those rules are now used worldwide. Kennedy gave her the highest civilian award in the country and she was the second woman ever to receive it. She stayed at the FDA another 45 years and died in 2015 at 101. Every American woman handed a pill in pregnancy is downstream of one woman refusing to sign a form six times while men shouted at her. smithsonianmag.com/science-n…

Jon Ossoff Gets Personal: “I’ve got two little girls at home; Eva is four and Lila is one. Soon enough, they’ll learn there are microplastics in human blood and breast milk, that toxic ‘forever chemicals’ are in half the country’s drinking water, and that the butterflies are dying off.” “We’ve amassed enough firepower to end the world 1,000 times over, but we can’t summon the will to guarantee healthcare and pre-K.” “I refuse to leave my girls a world as dark, dangerous, and cruel as this one threatens to become. When Eva asks why I let it happen, I’m determined to answer truthfully: I didn’t.”

I voted today. A primary, unimportant, they say. But I think the volume of votes in the primary will be a significant factor in the actual mid-terms. It gives a baseline of which the mid-term votes must support. Do not think Trump & GOP will play fair.

How is this atrocity possible in 2026? I blame Abrahamic religions. Throughout the Middle Ages, (mostly) women were executed as witches. Why? Watch Trump. When he's guilty of something, he blames someone else. See ICE for example. Your intro to Western Civilization.
Islamic Republic in Iran hangs 24-Year-old woman who defended herself from sexual assault Yesterday the regime executed Marziyeh Neyri yesterday, a young woman who was forced into marriage at age 17 and hanged for fighting back against her attacker. Marziyeh was 18 years old when her husband's associate attempted to sexually assault her in her own home, in front of her husband. She grabbed a kitchen knife to defend herself. Her husband died in the struggle. She told the court she had been repeatedly assaulted by her husband's associates before that day. Iran's courts didn't care. The regime rejected her self-defense claim. Her attacker, who survived, took the stand and called her a murderer. The court believed him over her. She was sentenced to death. No clemency. No mercy. The sentence was carried out at Chubindar Prison in Qazvin. Marziyeh Neyri never had a chance. Forced into marriage as a child under Iran's Islamic laws, she spent the few years of her adult life in a courtroom, fighting for her life after defending it. She lost. This is the Sharia Laws in Islamic Republic of Iran where a woman can be hanged for surviving. 💔

I have an abscess. I went to the doctor. They said, blah blah, blah. I said I'm broke so she repeated herself as if repetition would magically put money on my card. When I die, sometime between now and forever, the one person who won't know or care is me. I'll be dead. 🤔

When Gilbert Seldes' Lysistrata (1930) reached LA, a dozen policemen stormed the stage, arresting 53 cast members. Sadly the LAPD was unable to locate "the depraved playwright" listed as a person of interest on the arrest warrant: one Arthur Aristophanes." antigonejournal.com/2021/04/…

BROWDER: Trump is contorting himself every day to try to stay on Putin's side. I was watching interview with him recently. Journalist pointed out that Russia is providing Iranian targeting information to hit American bases, and asked Trump, "What do you think about this?" Trump was desperately trying not to acknowledge it, and so he said, "Well, I'm not sure that's true. I'm going to check with Putin on that," and so on and so forth. It's pretty obvious to me that Trump is on Putin's side. It's obvious to a lot of people who have been following this thing. I don't think you can sort of look at the facts on the surface and say, "Well, it makes sense that America would be mad about that," because it's not America, it's Trump. Trump has got whatever deal he has with Putin. I don't think we'll ever know exactly what that is. But whatever that deal is causes him not to act in the US national interest when it comes to Russia.
