What is the difference between equity and equality? We didn't know. Bernie Sanders didn't know. Nobody knows. So we asked linguistics professor @JohnHMcWhorter about this "wormy" word.

Weird that this hurt @VivekGRamaswamy so much. He's right and everyone knows it. But he touched on the third rail and that is not acceptable to an America that still worships on the altar of exceptionalism. I have a successful engineer son and I know the sacrifices that must be made to function at the very top level. Yes...it is about culture. One reason why homeschoolers do so well.
The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH:
Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG.
A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.
A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers.
(Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates).
More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.”
Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve.
Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest.
“Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China.
This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness.
That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

America’s greatest strength is attracting the best minds from all over the world, causing “brain drain” elsewhere while bolstering its own talent arsenal.
Idiotic Groypers think hiring unqualified Americans over skilled legal migrants won’t harm America’s leadership. In reality, the H1B visa serves America more than any other country. The “white Americans first” crowd is as stupid as DEI clowns—merit must be the only standard.
Trump has hired people all his life and he understands this simple principle.

Let me make it plain. Conservatives often invoke “culture” to explain black-white disparities in K-12, college, & the workforce—in direct opposition to the left’s discrimination narrative. Many of the same ppl are upset VR made a similar argument for the Asian-white gap.

"The mask has come off. The whole shell game has been revealed. It's obvious that Biden was always a puppet for these interests who were hiding behind him and now it's all being exposed."

We just live in a banana republic guys.
Time to just accept that.
Nothing is legitimate— not the media, our elections, or the courts.
This guilty verdict doesn’t shame Trump, it shames our country.

By checking the “black” box, I was being asking to mask over the very problems and inequities that undermined the efforts of lower-class blacks—all so university administrations could claim the pretense of racial redemption through higher enrollment numbers.

Asians fought for & won civil rights cases benefiting all Americans since 1875. Despite 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, WWII imprisonment & largest mass lynching in history in 1871, Asians won birthright citizenship & defeated “neutral” laws with discriminatory intent, among others.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling overturning President Biden’s illegal student loan scheme is a victory for common sense. You take out a loan, you pay it back. This decision frees taxpayers from shouldering debt they never signed up for.

How insane did Harvard's affirmative action policies get?
An African American student in the 40th percentile of their academic index is more likely to get it than an Asian student in the 100th percentile.
Black students in the 50th percentile are more likely to get in that white students at the top.

As you wish. The black students from upper class socioeconomic backgrounds are on par with the white students living in squalor. This isn’t an indictment on all black people, but shows something is going on and we need to figure out what that is.

What “Test Scores?” The only black people are in america? Test balck students that go to suburban white schools and see how their “test scores” do.
