As trees do not make cries for human ears to hear, nor does much of nature when it is being destroyed, so, to paraphrase Gandhi, I update his wise words: 'The greatness of a nation & it's moral progress can be judged by the way nature is treated' @YsbrydArtist via Gandhi πŸ’šπŸŒ³πŸ•ŠοΈ

Grow your own oak tree #16 Cracks are appearing around the remains of the style. On an acorn this is the tiny, hardened pointy tip or nub at the opposite end from the cup This is pressure from the taproot trying to exit πŸ€—

Everyone keeps calling it a cost of living crisis. But when companies keep raising prices while reporting record profits, maybe we should start calling it what it really feels like: a cost of greed crisis.

Tom, that’s utter nonsense, and you know it. It’s like saying that without Facebook and Cambridge Analytica fewer people would have been able to connect and throw virtual parties. And when you say "while they protest", you’re talking about technical experts who know you, and who understand precisely what Palantir does and are challenging the company on technical, ethical and political grounds. As you’ll probably remember, I was Chairman of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) when you were Minister for Digital Engagement and Civil Service Issues. You don’t have the technical background to justify presenting yourself as an authority on Palantir’s technology. Your value to Palantir is your access to government, politics, and the media. You advised the company from 2024 - while they were winning government contracts without having to go through procurement processes like everyone else. Alex Karp has said: "Our product is used, on occasion, to kill people" and his co-founders? So answer the constructive things people say instead of falling back to ideological statements. Everyone can see through them. When Palantir technology contributes to a decision that results in the wrong person being killed, what do you call that? A casualty of war? A false positive?
Later today protesters will demand β€˜No Palantir in our NHS’  Β  While they protest, someone, somewhere will get an operation scheduled earlier, a cancer diagnosis quicker, a loved one home from hospital sooner - thanks to the software that those protesters would switch off. Β  Here is what you won’t hear. Trusts using the software have recorded: β€’ 117,000 additional operations β€’ 14.3 per cent reduction in discharge delays for long stay patients β€’ 5.6 per cent improvement in the number of people receiving a cancer diagnosis within 28 days Β  Β  As a more articulate person once said: β€˜certain facts, although in a sense known to be true, are inadmissible.’

I’ve never seen anything like this anti-Triple Lock campaign, certainly not since the days of β€˜Iraqi WMDs’. It was relentless as Nic says. Across most of the media including the β€˜new media’ . β€˜Centre-left/β€˜progressive’ think tanks, β€˜free market’ think-tanks, β€˜left-wing’ (or at least seemingly left-wing) commentators, β€˜right-wing’ commentators. Seeding the idea that it was the Triple Lock that was β€˜bankrupting’ the country. All about preparing us for the moment Andy Burnham made his announcement.
Ex-personal finance writer here. For the past few weeks, we’ve a well-seeded, relentless government spin operation AGAINST the triple lock mechanism. Some of it has involved seeming β€œleftwing” commentators. In this (long) thread, I’m going to argue FOR the triple lock. 1/

The Dahlia is a birth flower for those born in October. In the language of flowers, it symbolises dignity and elegance. Dreaming of brightly coloured Dahlias is said to bring good fortune, while in flower magic they are associated with β€œspiritual evolution”. #FolkloreThursday

HOW DID BEING HEALTHY GET SO COMPLICATED? We have never had more information about health. Yet somehow we've made eating lunch more complicated than applying for a mortgage. Eat real food. Move your body. Get some sleep. Drink some water. Stop stressing about every little thing. There. I’ve saved you 47 podcasts and a Β£300 wellness retreat.
